When the usual pleasures are already bored, and Christmas festivities with Santa Claus are still far away, you can visit the four stone wonders of Finland, where it will take your breath away with admiration. It seems that some unknown giant had a hand in their creation.

In the province of Uusimaa in the 1950s, a local resident, leaning against a tree, saw a round and smooth hole in the rock, resembling a small pond. A little later, as many as twenty such holes were found. A few years later, Professor Ocky from the University of Helsinki, in the company of volunteers, began researching these amazing depressions.

Researchers have put forward a theory about the formation of cauldrons due to the powerful movement of water, formed as a result of the melting of glaciers. A stream of water with picked up stones fell into cracks in the rocks. The rotation of the water together with the stones formed these round holes. At the bottom of many of them, you can still see round stones of different diameters.

True, local residents have their own version of the appearance of gigantic boilers. The spirit of the forest of Khiisi learned about the impending baptism of local pagan inhabitants and dug holes in the rocks, which he filled with stones, preparing for a battle with the Swedish bishop. The forest spirit, who lost the battle, had to leave these places forever, and the pits remained to remind of his presence. They say that in ancient times these cauldrons were considered sacred.

Kummakivi, Strange Stone
This stone in Ruokolahti really cannot be called ordinary. A very large boulder just rests on top of a smaller rounded stone. The sight is truly impressive, but at the sight of this strange pyramid, the question immediately arises of how the stone could have turned out to be.

Local belief says that the creator of this miracle is none other than the same Hiishi. True, for what purpose he did this, it still remains a mystery. The scientific version is again associated with the melting of glaciers.
The area of contact between the two stones seems to be quite small.
It was the retreating glacier that could have put a boulder brought from afar on a stone 13 thousand years ago. The glacier gradually receded, and the boulder remained lying on a smoothed rock, exciting the minds of people.

On the island of Lapisyuoksu, stones are called devilish and have caused fear in people for a long time. The largest of them resembles an ugly human face, cut with wrinkles. According to legends, evil gnomes made holes in the stone.
But the chilling horror is caused not by the appearance of the stone, but by the sounds that it makes. They are similar at the same time to the sound of an organ and the inhuman screams of some giant creature.
Previously, local residents tried to bypass these places altogether, and, if necessary, to enter the forest, they carried a terrible stone of sacrifice.
