The mystery surrounding the tomb of the eminent Egyptian architect Senmut, on the ceiling of which an inverted star map is depicted, still excites the minds of scientists.

Senmut was the architect of the most magnificent structures during the reign of the female pharaoh Hatshepsut. He oversaw the quarrying, transportation and construction of the world's tallest twin obelisks at the entrance to the Karnak Temple, as well as the immense Jeser Jeseru burial complex, which means Most Sacred of the Sacred.

No less interesting is Senmut's own tomb, a characteristic feature of which is an inverted map of the starry sky. The center of the map shows the Orion-Sirius group, with Orion to the west of Sirius instead of to the east.

The orientation of the stars on the panel is such that the person lying in the grave sees Orion moving in the wrong direction.

Immanuel Velikavski in his book "The Clash of Worlds" suggested the upheaval of the celestial sphere as a result of a worldwide cataclysm that occurred about 12 thousand years ago and caused a change in the inclination of the ecliptic plane by only 6 degrees, nevertheless, this could be enough to cause chain reaction.

However, there is a simple and rational explanation for this astronomical anomaly in Senmut's tomb, which has not yet been taken into account. In ancient times, north and south were not determined according to the magnetic poles, but according to the position of the sun.

The sun rose in the east, in the west it went beyond the horizon. By the position of the sun at the zenith, the direction to the south was determined, where the place of the sun god Ra was located.

And more … In the southern hemisphere, the sun is at its zenith not in the south, but in the north. Therefore, the Orion-Sirius pair was in the southern hemisphere for a person at that time.

This astronomical picture, far beyond a simple agricultural calendar, was very important to the Egyptians. Unfortunately, over the centuries it has lost its meaning and has been distorted by the official history. But at least now, we can understand what sky our distant ancestors looked at.
