After unwanted "guests" entered the man's body, he barely managed to save his life - it took a whole team of surgeons to intervene.
Chris Gordon, a 44-year-old teacher from Minnesota, woke up with a large bump on his elbow of unknown origin. Doctors advised him not to worry, pointing out that most likely this is a common inflammation or a new formation like cellulite.
However, a few hours later, the man felt drowsiness and nausea, and therefore in the evening he went to the clinic again - and the doctors realized that the situation was much more serious than they thought. Gordoan was taken by helicopter to the Mayo Clinic, where he was diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis.
It is a bacterial infection that slowly eats away at the skin, fat, and tissue around muscles. “Imagine that a fire breaks out in the heart of a dry forest, and the only way to stop its spread is to get ahead of the elements with controlled arson. To do this, you need to remove all trees in the path of the flame before it can use them as fuel.
Now imagine that wood is your skin and fire is fasciitis,”explains Chris himself. He spent two weeks in the intensive care unit and another six in the general ward, where he was given pain relievers and drugs to reduce blood clotting. He left the hospital 65 days later, but received outpatient care for another 10 months.

and all the time he lost an impressive part of the skin, but as a result the bacterial threat was eliminated. He managed to rehabilitate himself, and since then Chris has radically changed his lifestyle - he became interested in boxing, water skiing and football, and recently also received a black belt in taekwondo.
