Alhaji Muhammad Kilishi, acting head of the local government's Soro district in Darazo, Bauchi state, said on Wednesday that a series of mysterious fires had occurred in the city, destroying more than 100 homes. Property worth millions of Naira has been destroyed, according to the Nigeria Tribune.
Alhaji Kilishi, who told reporters in Bauchi about this, said that at the moment, no one knows the cause of the fires, the injured people only discovered that the fire appeared as if from nowhere, from inside the house.
According to him, the mysterious fire started in October, however, so far, no life has been lost as a result of the incident.
“This fire is quite mysterious because it didn’t come from an electrical circuit or other typical incident. Once it was noticed that fire suddenly appeared out of nowhere and began to spread, and before you knew it, the flame began to destroy the house.
“These mysterious incidents began about a month ago, but so far no one has died. I do not know the origin of these strange fires, what exactly caused them, said the acting head of the district from Nigeria.
Curiously, similar fires in apartments have recently occurred in Moscow. Gas supply workers were named guilty there. As it became known, about 26 apartments were on fire in Moscow. Emergency service personnel arrived at the scene.
"In the Presnensky district of Moscow, as a result of a malfunction at a gas distribution substation, fires occurred in a number of apartments," the TASS representative of the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.
The fire occurred in apartments located at different addresses. Law enforcement officials in the capital said they were not considering a criminal version of fires in residential buildings.
