In 2018, at the end of July, a strange anomaly occurred in the Verkhoyansk region (ulus) of Yakutia - the sun simply disappeared from the sky for several hours.

Along the way, other anomalies were observed - many seagulls and other birds were found dead, a thick trail of incomprehensible dust was seen on the water in the lakes, and the same dust even got into the water barrels standing by the villagers next to the houses.

Officially, the district authorities after a while confirmed that the sun was not visible from 11.30 to 14.00, but the presence of strange dust was denied. In general, everything was attributed to an unusual natural anomaly. You can read more about this phenomenon here.

And now, almost exactly a year later, this solar anomaly was repeated in the same place. On the morning of August 8 at 8:00, when the sun should have been in the sky for a long time, the inhabitants of several villages of the Verkhoyansk ulus woke up in pitch darkness. The sun appeared only after 8.30.

While the locals were discussing this anomaly and posting pictures on social networks, rumors circulated that someone had heard strange violent explosions. Others joked that now "stealing" the Sun would probably become an annual local tradition.

Officially, this time the authorities spoke more decisively and soon announced that this time there was no anomaly at all, but the fact is that "a thunderstorm front was formed, the remnants of which were a short-term but heavy rain."

- The sound of "explosion", which was heard by many residents of the Batagay settlement, cannot be explained by anything other than thunderclaps. The yellow haze is the result of the dawn, the rays of which made their way through the dense smoke, - noted in the unified dispatch service of the Verkhoyansk region.

True, Internet users reacted to such statements with ironic comments, including the famous excuse from the film "Men in Black": "Light from Venus reflected from the upper atmosphere and caused an explosion of swamp gas" …
