Throughout the history of archeology, many artifacts have been found. And some of them raise many questions - it is not clear whether these finds are really artifacts of antiquity or were they made much later - closer to our time?

We will talk about one of these things today. In the middle of the 19th century, an ancient artifact made of limestone was discovered in the Zbruch River on the territory of the modern Ternopil region (Ukraine).

It was named after this river - "Zbruch idol". A lot of books have been written about him, both quite scientific and fantastic. Scientific controversy is still ongoing around this find.

And the thing is that it was discovered quite by accident, not by professional archaeologists. That is why representatives of official science are in no hurry to give it the status of an archaeological artifact.

Researchers were divided among themselves - part of them considers the idol to be a real ancient artifact and refers it to the 10th century, while the other part considers this piece to be a real fake, made in the middle of the 19th century.

But what is known about this idol? Whatever it is - fake or not, the fact is that it has no precise and reliably dated analogies, and the level of performance of this thing is much higher than what can be observed among the remains of the culture of the first millennium of our era.

It is also interesting that around the place where the artifact was discovered, archaeologists could not find a single archaeological monument. In addition, in Slavic paganism there is not a single mention of the fact that images of several gods can be combined into one idol - nothing like this has been found before.

In addition, studies have shown that it is impossible to accurately establish the fact of prolonged exposure to the environment on this thing, i.e. it is impossible to determine with certainty that it has been in the earth or water, for example, for a thousand years.

There is also no exact information about his discovery - only it is known that he was found in the river, but it is not clear how and under what circumstances, as well as how deep he was.

According to one version, this artifact could be a fake and be created by master Timon Zaborovsky, because it was his estate that was located not far from the place where the find was found.

This man lived at the beginning of the 19th century and became famous for his passion for history and poetry.

But perhaps, in the process of making the idol, he did not seek to create a historical forgery, but simply wanted to make a beautiful thing, realizing his own creative potential in it.

If this was indeed the case, then with his idol he made a lot of noise in archeology and history.
