Norwegian scientists were able to take a significant step towards solving the mysteries of the Bermuda Triangle. Underwater craters of incredible size have been found at the bottom of the Barents Sea. This was reported today by the journalists of the Tech Times information portal.
Geologists from the Norwegian Arctic University on the eve in the Barents Sea at a depth of 45 meters found gigantic craters, which are about 800 meters wide. According to scientists, craters could have formed as a result of gas breakthroughs. The authors of the study suggest that they were able to get closer to solving the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle, because now they have the opportunity to understand how several hundred ships could disappear without a trace after entering the danger zone. Scientists explain that craters can release large amounts of methane, causing ships to explode. As a result of the release of methane, the temperature of the water also rises, which entails the appearance of dangerous vortices in the atmosphere.
Scientists have not yet risked sending an expedition to the places of giant craters, but experts intend to continue to study the mysterious phenomenon.
