Locals have been talking about the mystical lake for several centuries
All over the world there are hundreds of places around which legends and traditions are formed. They are passed down from generation to generation and they always acquire new details. There are such places in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
One of the most mystical places in the Nizhny Novgorod region is Lake Maloe Plotovo, which is located in the Vorotynsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region. All the legends associated with it relate to the mysterious island, which periodically appears in the very center of the reservoir.
The first mentions date back to the 17th century. Local residents considered the lake cursed and tried to bypass it. They mention that the island that appears periodically was covered with grass and trees, as if it had always stood in this place. In the middle of the 17th century, one of the peasants of the local landowner decided to test himself and made it to the island.
On the island, a man was severely injured, and before his death he said that the unimaginable was happening on the island: lights appear and disappear around, and howling, barking and ringing is heard in his ears.
The next mention dates back to 1939. The daredevil, having learned about the island that had appeared, decided to pick strawberries on it, however, like his predecessor, when he returned with severe injuries, he talked about the fact that something terrible was happening on the island. After a while, the man died.
There are many versions of what is happening with this island. Specialists dealing with anomalous phenomena are still arguing about their existence. Some scientists agree that the lake is located within the zone of strong crushing of the earth's crust. This produces gases that can cause massive hallucinations in people.
However, there is still no exact version of what is happening. Since the 30s of the last century, there has been no mention of the island.
