In Japan, a deadly tick escaped scientists during a science press conference. This is reported by the British tabloid Daily Mail.

According to the publication, the insect, which is the carrier of the bunyavirus, was presented to the scientific community and journalists at a conference in Miyazaki Prefecture. When one of the scientists decided to pick up the tick with tweezers for clarity, it disappeared. Searches for the insect in the auditorium where the event took place were unsuccessful.

"We should have taken a closer look at the precautions, because the prefecture must always inform people about the possible danger," said the head of the prefecture of Sunji Kono, who had to explain for the mistake.

It is reported that in Miyazaki, several people were injured by tick bites, one died. Acute fever with thrombocytopenic syndrome, carried by an insect, is especially dangerous for the elderly, since it greatly weakens the immune system and leads to serious disturbances in the functioning of internal organs.
