Surprising luck fell on the lot of the South African farmer Martiens van Wyck, who was struck by lightning twice, but he survived both times, according to the BBC

The first blow came on Friday the 13th (quite a suitable day), when M. van Wyck and his colleagues went to a farm in the Ventersdorp area where he lives and works. The owner of the farm, Niko Tromp, M. van Wyck and several workers were setting up a fence at the moment of the impact. As a result, M. van Vik was thrown aside, and he lost consciousness for a couple of seconds. But this did not stop the farmer.

The next day, deciding that the work must certainly be finished, he again went to the farm, but without colleagues. According to N. Tromp, for the second time lightning struck the fence post, practically on the hands of M. van Vic. It happened about one in the afternoon.

After that M. van Wik lost consciousness again and regained consciousness only at half past five in the evening, when it was already getting dark. With back pain and numerous bruises, he barely made it home. “It felt like the skin on my body was shrinking,” he said.

Today M. van Vik, recalling what happened, thanks God for the saved life. However, this is not all his troubles: to top it all off, the farmer's wife, Eliza, scolded her husband for going out to fix the fence alone.
