The ideas of the outstanding Russian scientist Alexander Leonidovich Chizhevsky entered the theory and practice of modern cosmobiology. Alexander Leonidovich was a very versatile person, as they say, both a physicist and a lyricist.
He later transferred his research in the study of solar activity to the study of the historical process. Published in 1924, "Physical Factors of the Historical Process" - a short popular scientific abstract edition of his monumental work (more than 900 pages in the original) caused a heated controversy in the scientific community. There were both supporters of Chizhevsky's views on history, and ardent opponents who demanded that Alexander Leonidovich immediately abandon his pseudoscience.
EK Tsiolkovsky stood up to defend his friend. On April 4, 1924, in the Kommuna newspaper, Tsiolkovsky, speaking about the work of Chizhevsky, noted that for the first time convincingly the connection of historical processes with physical and astronomical phenomena was shown on historical experience:
The scientist's confidence that the cyclical nature of historical processes occurs under the influence of physical factors led Chizhevsky to think about the possibility of the impact of air ions on humans and living organisms in general. The scientific hypothesis was as follows: positively ionized air has a negative effect, and negatively ionized air has a positive effect on living organisms. Chizhevsky was engaged in research in this area until the end of his life. Research brought Chizhevsky wide fame not only in the country, but also abroad, where heliobiology was actively developing. Despite the fact that Chizhevsky was a great patriot of his country, he had much more opponents than supporters. The ideas and thoughts of the great scientist were too bold and incomprehensible.
After the end of the civil war in the USSR, studies were carried out on air ionization. The young biophysicist Chizhevsky also enthusiastically joined them and proposed his own principle of air ionization. All his inventions and scientific developments, the scientist invariably, despite numerous proposals from the West, handed over to the USSR. It was this development that was created in 1931 for the air ion generator.

It is this principle - non-ionized air harms living organisms, is the basis for the operation of a lamp or a Chizhevsky chandelier. Of course, Chizhevsky had nothing to do with the development or creation of the lamp. It's just a clever marketing ploy to use a big name to promote your product. The lamp device is simple to elementary. The main structural element of the lamp, under the influence of voltage, accelerates the production of electrons, which charge the air.
Immediately after its appearance during the perestroika years, the lamp was overgrown with myths and legends. There are many of them now. But myths are myths. And a fact: ionization disinfects the air quite well, which in turn helps to increase efficiency, normalizes breathing, improves oxygen absorption, and reduces the risk of spreading infectious diseases. There is also a psychological factor: ionized air creates the illusion of freshness (sea or mountain air). By the way, this very effect is used in most modern air conditioners.
As for air disinfection (and this is exactly the area in which Chizhevsky conducted research in the last years of his life), including his developments are now widely used in medicine. These are quartz lamps, which are mandatory installed in wards and operating rooms. Portable quartz lamps are widely used in transport, for example, to disinfect subway cars after a shift. So, air conditioners in our apartments carry out ionization of air, and you can disinfect the air with a cheap quartz lamp. As for other positive or negative effects of the "lamp" named after the great scientist, there is simply no scientifically proven data.
