Many of our subscribers have probably read Boris Akunin's Cemetery Stories and remember his story about visiting the Old Don Cemetery. It will be about the grave of Saltychikha, she is Daria Nikolaevna Saltykova, a landowner who beat more than a hundred serfs to death.
Boris Akunin (or Grigory Chkhartishvili) described the tombstone of Saltykova in the following way: “The most appropriate monument to the monster is a silence figure in the form of a bare gray obelisk, reminiscent of an aspen stake driven into the ground”.
In fact, Saltykova was buried not here, but on the side. According to the historian Mikhail Korobko, the real tombstone of the famous sadist is a stone sarcophagus. The gravestone we need is littered with another sarcophagus standing nearby, so the inscriptions cannot be read.
Landmark - entrance with a large bell tower, then you need to go to the right wall of the monastery, a little further than the white cross.
Today, relatives of those under investigation or in prison come to the grave of Saltychikha. They ask for help and protection.
