While building a new road in the Chinese province of Taizhou, workers stumbled upon a strange petrified object. The artifact was clearly the work of human hands: the archaeologists who arrived at the site determined that the age of the box is five times the age of the city itself.
For a whole day, the workers, under the strict guidance of excited scientists (and by the way, under the protection of a reinforced police detachment), dug in the box around the perimeter.
The artifact gradually took on a clear outline. In the end, the archaeologists guessed that in front of them was a real ancient tomb.
With the greatest care, the sealed sarcophagus was raised to the surface. The researchers did not yet know what was waiting for them inside!
Several of the top layers looked like silk soaked in some kind of liquid. And beneath them was an ancient Chinese mummy - radiocarbon analysis showed that it was already as much as 700 years old.

The jewelry and the method of burial itself helped scientists to establish that the woman belonged to the nobility of the Ming dynasty.
The body was perfectly preserved. Facial features, clothes, shoes - how it hasn't rotted for seven centuries, archaeologists do not yet understand.
However, the excitement around the find quickly subsided. However, China is already several thousand years old, and similar artifacts from time to time surface across the country.
