On the night of August 21, 1955, during the heyday of flying saucers, a family from western Kentucky encountered humanoid creatures that frightened them on the family farm.
On Sunday evening, August 21, 1955, eleven people were present at Sutton's farm in Kelly: the widow's family matriarch, Glennie Lankford, her children, Lonnie, Charlton and Mary; two sons from her previous marriage, Elmer "Lucky" Sutton and John Charlie "JC" Sutton, and their wives, Vera and Alena; Alena's brother, OP Baker; and a pair from Pennsylvania, Billy Ray Taylori June Taylors. Taylors, along with Lucky and Vera Sutton, visited them for a while as carnival workers.

Not all of the eleven witnessed the most significant events. One of the women, apparently June Taylor, was “too scared to look,” and Lonnie Lankford, at the age of 62, said that his mother hid him, his brother and sister under a bed during the incident.
At about seven o'clock, Billy Ray Taylor was drawing water from the well when he saw a bright beam of light in the sky, which disappeared behind a line of trees at some distance from the house. According to researcher Isabelle Davis, who investigated the case in 1956 (Davis and Bloecher 1978, 15), Billy Ray Taylor was different from other eyewitnesses:
He looked at the creatures with extravagant success. He was the only member of the group who seemed to cast doubt on everyone who spoke to him. Even among the family, he had a low position: when he first entered the house and reported the "spaceship", they did not pay any attention to him. Later, during the investigation, he was in the spotlight.
He drew his description of the creatures (but not the description of the "spaceship") and ended up creating the most creative and least reliable of the sketches of the humans. Several skeptics who called the story a hoax called him the likely culprit. His behavior was in stark contrast to the behavior of other witnesses, none of whom aroused such rapid suspicion among investigators.

Attack
About an hour after Taylor reported his sighting of a "flying saucer", he was attracted by a barking dog and "Lucky" Sutton. Finding the creature, they rushed into the house for a.22 rifle and a shotgun, thus starting a series of clashes that lasted for the next three hours.
Sometimes the men shot at the scary face that appeared at the window; sometimes they went outside, after which, one day, Taylor's hair was grabbed by a huge, claw-like hand.
One day, a couple shot a small creature on the roof and another on a nearby tree, which then "fell" to the ground. Either the creatures were immune to shots, or the man's accuracy left much to be desired, since not a single creature was killed.
After a lull in the "battle," everyone got into their cars and drove eight miles south to Hopkinsville Police Headquarters. Soon more than a dozen officers from city, county and state law enforcement agencies gathered on the spot. Their search yielded nothing but a hole in the window. There were no traces of the "little people" and there were no tracks indicating that something had landed in the described place behind the house. " By the next day, the US Air Force was reportedly involved, but the case was ultimately called "unidentified."
