Two of the three arsonists of the priest's house in Arkhangelsk died under mysterious circumstances

Sergei Mukhametzyanov, who was engaged in a real estate business, with the aim of taking possession of a land plot located in the center of the city of Arkhangelsk, on which a wooden house of the family of priest Vladimir Kuziv stands, found persons ready to commit arson for a monetary reward of 250 thousand rubles.

On June 5, 2008, Yuri Varnikov, together with Andrey Prokudin, using a flammable combustible liquid, made the first, unsuccessful, attempt to set fire to the house.

On August 28, 2008, they also made another attempt at arson. As a result of the crime, the victim suffered significant material damage in the amount of more than 300 thousand rubles.

A few days after the arson, Prokudin died in a traffic accident in the Leningrad Region, and in December 2008, Mukhamedzyanov was shot dead.

Therefore, the Arkhangelsk court sentenced only 24-year-old manager Yuri Varnikov. He was found guilty of deliberate arson and damage to a priest's apartment building. By a court verdict Varnikov was sentenced to 8 months' imprisonment in a penal colony.
