Before the 1917 revolution, Krasnodar bore the name Yekaterinodar and was named so in honor of Catherine II, who in the 18th century gave the city to the possession of the Kuban Cossacks. Like any old city, Krasnodar has many legends and stories of the supernatural.

The All-Saints Cemetery of Krasnodar keeps the grave in which an old woman is buried. According to the grave inscription, her name was Martha Abramovnaya Turishcheva. There is only one date - March 19, 1912. And the inscription "I'm back" scares. According to local legend, a witch lies in this grave. Every full moon the ghost of Martha appears near her burial place. They say that if you make a wish near this grave, it will most likely come true. Therefore, the grave always attracts a large number of people.

Part of the road near Krasnodar, from the Lenin farm to the village of Starokorsunskaya, is notorious. Accidents and various accidents often occur here. Those who manage to survive after this say that shortly before the incident, a ghost in monastic vestments was noticed near the road, watching the cars. Locals believe that this is the ghost of a priest who was shot during the Great Patriotic War by the Nazi invaders. Despite the fact that he was buried in a local cemetery, his soul, apparently, remained restless.

There is a bathhouse on Sadovaya Street in Krasnodar, whose workers have repeatedly seen a ghost painting something on the wall. There were no drawings left, and no one knows whose spirit it is and what it wants.

And on Red Street, the ghost of the artist appears, dressed in white. According to legend, this artist was constantly in search of a model who would be an ideal woman, the embodiment of true beauty. Not finding her during his lifetime, he continued his search after death.

The market square of the city was once the place where the main Kuban temple was located - the military Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. After the events of 1917, it was closed, the bells were removed from it and a museum of atheism was organized in it. In 1932 the cathedral was blown up. Only the foundation and basement remained. They say that there were real dungeons under the cathedral. People who visited them said that they saw strange locked doors. It is still rumored that treasures may be hidden in those underground passages.

There were many entrances to the dungeons. One of them was under the Zhukov square. At this place, a girl who received a funeral from the front about her lover committed suicide. Now ghosts are often seen here - a girl in a bright dress and a Red Army soldier in an old uniform.
