A group of British scientists from the University of Cambridge managed to identify and name new causes of the death of Neanderthals. According to an article published in the American Journal of Physical Anthropology, infectious diseases that migrated from Africa could be the cause.

Scientists have named a new possible cause of the death of the Neanderthals. This information has already appeared on the pages of the scientific information source American Journal of Physical Anthropology. This was the conclusion reached by a group of specialists from Great Britain working within the walls of the University of Cambridge.

Scientists came to this conclusion during the analysis of the remains of ancient Neanderthals and their DNA. So experts were able to notice that some diseases have a significantly older age than was previously thought. Among these diseases, experts identified herpes, stomach ulcers and tuberculosis. Scientists also managed to understand that these infectious diseases were brought by ancient people who migrated to Europe from Africa.

Note that earlier it was believed that the above diseases were transmitted to humans from animals, but now the opinion has changed dramatically. Scientists are considering the option that it was people who infected the animals with these infectious diseases.
