The plane with a rescue squad is currently inspecting the mountains in the Northern Urals, where in 1959 a group of students died under mysterious circumstances
Rescuers are looking for a maize grower with 13 people on board that disappeared without a trace in the Ivdel District in the north of the Sverdlovsk Region. The search engines are exploring the Mountain of the Dead, on the slope of which more than half a century ago, 9 students of UPI died under unclear circumstances.
“This morning the An-2 plane took off towards the village of Vizhay, there are two rescuers and several paratroopers on board,” the Ivdel police said. - They intend to explore the Dyatlov pass and the nearby Mansi-Nier mountain.
The pass is infamous not only in Russia, but also abroad because of the events that happened here in 1959. Then an expedition of student skiers led by Igor Dyatlov climbed the mountains. On February 1, the group stopped for the night and pitched a tent on the slope of Holatchakhl, which in translation from the Mansi is called the Mountain of the Dead - according to legend, nine Mansi hunters once perished here.
The next day, none of the 9 guys were alive. As investigators later found out, in panic horror, having cut the tent from the inside with knives, the tourists rushed to run down the slope. Some of them were half-naked and died from the cold. However, three Dyatlovites were found to have bodily injuries: broken ribs and punctured heads.
- There are dozens of versions: military tests, infrasonic impact, avalanche, animal attacks, escaped prisoners and completely fantastic - meeting with Bigfoot or UFO, - said the researchers of the tragedy. - However, the investigators never came to any conclusion, the case was closed, and the pass was named after Dyatlov.
The place of death of students became the center of research for hundreds of scientists, psychics, ufologists who tried to solve a terrible secret. In the next 10 years, many expeditions were made to the Mountain of the Dead, during which the searchers came across another mysterious find - the wreckage of an old plane, it is not known when it crashed here.

On the eve it was reported that a unique specialist was involved in the search for the missing An-2
Gennady Cheurin is an honorary polar explorer, head of the Center for Environmental Survival and Safety. It was he who participated in the search for children lost in the forest in Krasnoturyinsk. Then the missing were found a week later. So he knows the psychology of people who find themselves in a similar situation. In addition, Cheurin knows the entire north of the Sverdlovsk region like the back of his hand. The expert believes that the An-2 got into a zone of natural anomalies: the pilot could go astray due to natural anomalies on the Konzhakovsky stone and make an emergency landing in the taiga. He explained that in the area of the disappearance of the plane, minerals are located close to the surface of the earth, which causes magnetic anomalies. According to Cheurin, there are magnetic anomalies in the area of Denezhkiniy Kamen. Therefore, most likely, the plane could be lost in the area of these two natural anomalies, the expert said.
