Today we will talk about the Paracas culture. It existed in Peru from the middle of the VIII century BC. e. almost before the beginning of our era. Judging by the finds of material culture, it has not reached a great technological development. Stone tools predominated.

A kind of burial chambers appeared before amazed archaeologists. Each of them contained about 40 mummies. The body, in a sitting position, was carefully wrapped with cloth and tied with ropes. The work was done so well that they were in the same position for thousands of years.
The quality of the fabric in which the mummies were wrapped is striking. No wonder they are considered one of the best examples of pre-Columbian art. The beautiful ornament has survived to this day in a normal state. There is a feeling that it was created quite recently.

Some will think that there is nothing strange about these graves. Yes, usually people are not buried in a sitting position, but throughout history, there have been so many different cultures. Some burned the bodies of the dead, others gave them up to be torn apart by birds, and still others simply buried in the ground. Is it any wonder that someone in Peru thousands of years ago decided to bury the dead in a sitting position?

However, the shape of many skulls is questionable. It is easy to see that their nape is elongated and their forehead is sloping. Today some tribes are doing similar things. The natives purposefully deform the skull. It becomes similar to the heads of aliens, which were allegedly "seen" by those who encountered them.
