A couple of days ago, a mysterious phenomenon occurred in the Serbian village of Kakapun in the Pchin district, which local residents considered a real religious miracle.
A fire broke out in the residential building of the Monastery of St. Elijah, located in this village. Firefighters, who came to the call and put out the fire, found burnt icons in the attic of the building. However, what is surprising is that the faces of the saints depicted on these images turned out to be untouched by the flames.
We are talking about the icons of Jesus Christ, John the Baptist and the Apostle Peter. Many monks and parishioners of the Orthodox monastery, founded in the 13th century, are convinced that the faces of the saints did not suffer in the fire at God's will. The news of the alleged miracle quickly spread throughout the neighborhood thanks to the conversations of believers (word of mouth). At the moment, Christians come here many kilometers from other villages and cities to personally look at unusual images, to touch with their souls this church miracle.
However, some representatives of the local flock managed to find a completely rational explanation for what happened. According to skeptics, the faces of the saints were not burned for the simple reason that they are all covered with pure gold, which, of course, does not burn. Be that as it may, the monastery is now more concerned about the restoration of the building lost in a fire. This will probably require money from the state treasury and generous donations from parishioners.
However, it must be assumed that the miracle that happened with the icons will somehow help to restore the building of the Monastery of St. Elijah, perhaps, believers say, this did not happen by chance: the fire, and the intact icons, and the spreading rumor about them. But how to interpret all this? Maybe all this is a sign from above, necessary to strengthen people's faith in Jesus Christ and in the Almighty in general?..
