Paleontologists from the University of Manchester have conclusively proved that it is impossible to resurrect dinosaurs from the remains of proteins found in their bones. This was announced in a press release posted on Phys.org.

Scientists analyzed traces of collagen in the remains of a tyrannosaur to find out if the organic matter really came from a dinosaur. Many experts believed that the protein found in the fossilized bones of ancient dinosaurs was actually the result of sample contamination and belonged to modern animals.

The results of the study showed that "fossil" collagen corresponds to the collagen excreted from the bones of ostriches. Biopolymers (DNA and proteins) of the latter are used in research to determine the evolutionary relationship between extinct and extinct organisms. This disproves the view that ancient biopolymers, including proteins, can be found in fossils that are tens of millions of years old.

The absence of prehistoric biological molecules in the bones of dinosaurs makes it impossible to recreate lizards using biotechnology methods.
