Gilberto Valle compiled a list of possible victims, taking advantage of his position, because the pervert had served as a law enforcement officer for six years in a police station in Manhattan. The inquisitive ex-wife of a 28-year-old police officer, who has a one-year-old daughter from him, suspected something wrong. The woman who looked into his computer and stumbled upon Gilberto's email correspondence with likely accomplices. The vigilant American immediately went to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. FBI agents took her words very seriously and went to seize the policeman's computer. In addition to the correspondence, a file with the name "Kidnapping and Cooking" was found on the hard drive.
“Cook it on low heat, keep it alive as long as possible,” wrote Valle to his accomplice. When he asked how big his oven was, the policeman replied, "Big enough to put one of these girls in it if you fold her legs."

The policeman wrote down the date of birth, height, weight and breast size of each potential victim in his "cannibalistic" files. For this he used service databases.
Investigators believe that the policeman did not manage to carry out any of the planned crimes. They talked to ten women on the list, all of them happened to know Gilberto, some of them went to school with him.
“In the worst case, it's his sexual fantasies,” said the suspect's lawyer, Julia Gatto, at a court hearing on Thursday.

The prosecutor, in turn, said that Valle communicated with three accomplices, sharing with them plans to commit crimes, and once even used a police car to monitor one of the women.
“I’m shocked, it’s beyond my understanding,” Valle’s neighbor, Kevin Ryan, told TV reporters.
Vallee faces life imprisonment for conspiracy to kidnap, he is also accused of criminal misuse of official data and abuse of office.
