The moon fascinates and attracts most people. Creative personalities compose songs and poems about her, astronomers study through a telescope, and some even compose horoscopes and predictions using the magical properties of our satellite. According to the lunar calendar, they not only cut their hair, but also sow the garden.

The origin of the moon

We love our companion as a good-natured neighbor who follows us everywhere. However, if the moon suddenly left us, who would take her place?

Our satellite is not just an artificially created thing or a planet that has arrived from nowhere. The moon is directly our part.

When the Earth was only a baby of lava (30 million years old) in age, a huge cosmic body collided with it, pushing part of the mantle out of it. The celestial body, which rebounded from the Earth, merged with this earthly mantle, forming the Moon.

And although our satellite has not shown geological activity for a billion years, it continues to influence the life of our entire planet.

Ebb and flow

Just imagine what it would be like if the Moon suddenly left us, moving far, far away.

The ebb and flow of the moon, which have an important impact on our seas and oceans, would disappear. Of course, the solar ones would remain, but they are much weaker due to its greater remoteness from us.

Our satellite also affects the ocean level, collecting less water at the poles than at the equator. If the Moon disappeared, this water would spread to the poles.

Rotating the Earth

The moon is able to slow down the Earth's rotation. Helping us with this, our companion keeps normal day and night. And although this deceleration seems very tiny, it runs all day in a year. If it were not for this slowing effect from our satellite, our day would have lasted only six hours.

Don't think that such a surprisingly short day can be intriguing. It can be interesting only as a plot of a fantasy novel. In reality, violation of this pattern can lead to a small apocalypse. The power and number of winds and storms will increase, which cannot but affect the world around.

And in a day and night, which would be reduced by many hours, plants and animals would not be able to develop normally. It is terrible to imagine how this would affect the state of people. Perhaps new mutating species of plants and animals would arise. However, most of the species that exist nowadays, we would just lose most of the species. But many are already on the verge of extinction.

Earth axis

Our satellite also plays a role for the axis of the Earth. The moon helps our planet maintain a 23-degree tilt. This provides a mild climate with comfortable seasons and smooth transitions between them.

Otherwise, we simply could not survive. With an axis nearly zero degree, we would see the Sun for no more than a few minutes. It is known that nothing could grow in such conditions. And with a tilt of 97 degrees, like Uranus, days and nights on the planet would last 42 years.

And finally, what everyone knows. Without the Moon, it would be too dark at night, which would not allow us to make romantic walks, which are especially beautiful by the sea, where you can see a mesmerizing moon path on the water surface.
