Do not let the headline scare you - a terrible tragedy will soon be prophesied only to Americans, and even then, living in the city of Arora in northern Illinois.
Thousands of black and white cards appeared overnight in local mailboxes, on car windshields, on benches, monuments, shop windows and just on the ground. An unknown person or, rather, a group of people literally overnight littered the whole city with these notes. The cards with unusual content attracted the close attention of not only ordinary citizens, but also police officers and journalists from Aurora.
“Something terrible will happen on December 31, 2016. Those of you who are endowed with wisdom will soon discover the truth and begin to act before it is too late,”some messages read.
“If you are alert and observant, you will see clues as you navigate the roads. The answer is all around you. But can you find him before the evil is done? - says others.
“You have lived too long without being interested in the reality around you. Can you pay the necessary price for your ignorance? - the third are afraid.
Many of these cards are equipped with images of an hourglass, symbolizing, apparently, the transience of time before some inevitable catastrophe.
Local Sheriff Dan Ferrelli says: “Every effort should be made to avoid public panic. Many law enforcement officials are working to determine if everything is calm in the city. So far, there is no reason to fear a terrorist attack or any other planned tragedy. We assume that this is all someone's stupid prank. Someone wanted quick glory, so he began to frighten the townspeople. Nevertheless, we will definitely check everything and will be especially vigilant all the remaining days of the outgoing year."
