Until recently, artificial intelligence found its application only in research and, if I may say so, "everyday" aspects of our life. But now more and more often you can hear that AI will be integrated into the military sphere. For example, the British authorities announced the opening of a military development center, in which artificial intelligence will play a key role.
The center will be located in the British city of Porton Down. At the first stage, the scientists of the complex will study the possibility of using AI to control unmanned vehicles, computer security systems, the possibility of assisting command personnel and assistance in coordinating actions on the battlefield, as well as in countering information warfare. As United Kingdom Secretary of Defense Gavin Williamson said, "The meeting of scientists and military experts forces our most outstanding minds to develop new capabilities, after which the latest developments can be implemented in autonomous combat systems and even in robotics."
The UK authorities have already spent nearly $ 1 billion on the development of artificial intelligence systems in the military sphere and are planning to further develop this industry. Many experts are frightened by such a prospect, because we all know a lot of works in the course of which the rebellious AI rebelled against humanity. However, according to scientists, there is no need to worry, because at the moment AI is at the stage when it is sharpened only for the use of certain tasks and does not have the proper independence in decision-making.
