Scientists discovered the remains of a monster in Loch Ness, but it turned out to be a dinosaur that did not survive until the 21st century: an autonomous underwater vehicle came across the wreckage of a "monster" created in the 1960s for the filming of the film "The Private Lives of Sherlock Holmes." It is reported by Sky News.

The discovery was made during a project to survey a Scottish lake by a robot. During filming, the model drowned in the lake - due to the fact that director Billy Wilder demanded that two humps be cut from its frame, installed to increase buoyancy.

The model was taken at the bottom of the lake by an underwater automatic vehicle, which is currently conducting the most thorough survey of Loch Ness. Earlier, the robot denied claims about the so-called "Nessie Trench" - a giant crevice in which a "monster" could be hiding.

Sonar allows the robot to survey depths of up to 1500 meters (despite the fact that the depth of the lake does not exceed 250 meters). Typically, such devices are used to search for crashed aircraft and sunken ships.

Previously, the study of Loch Ness was hampered by the difficulties of the descent, as well as the turbidity of the water (due to the high content of peat).
