This unusual creature, similar to a goblin with a huge head, was observed in Dover, Massachusetts, in April 1977 and after a couple of days it disappeared without a trace. However, stories and legends still circulate about it and it bears the nickname "Demon from Dover" ("Dover Demon").

He was first spotted at about 10:30 pm on April 21, 1977, when 17-year-old aspiring artist William Bartlett was driving his car down the suburban Farm Street.

Passing the stone fence, the guy was amazed to see that there was something “amazing and terrible” on the wall, as he later described it. The creature reminded him of a goblin, as it was small in size, in appearance less than a meter in height. On his head were huge eyes shining in the dark, and his hands, feet and fingers were as thin as twigs.

William did not notice any ears, nose or mouth on the creature's head, and described the head itself as "huge like a melon and the same color, but very, very pale."

“This creature scared me to death,” the guy later said. So it’s not surprising that he didn’t even slow down in order to get a better look at the monster, but on the contrary gave the gas and drove further along the road.

If only one Bartlett saw the "goblin", it could still be attributed to pareidolia or hallucinations, but on the same night another young man named John Baxter saw the same creature.

After midnight, Baxter returned from his girlfriend's house and walked. It is not indicated in which area he walked and which street, but probably not far from Farm Street, since this was also a suburb and, moreover, it was not far from the forest.

Suddenly in front of him, John saw a short humanoid creature, which slowly hobbled on two legs straight towards him. Apparently this creature did not immediately notice that there was a man in front of him, but when he noticed, it ran with great speed towards the forest and disappeared into the darkness.

The next evening, a creepy big-headed "goblin" appeared near the bridge on Springdale Avenue and frightened a young couple, Abby Brabham and Will Tintor, who were walking there and hugging.

No one in the city ever met this creature again, and the story of the "melon-headed goblin" was immediately greeted by other residents of the city with a large dose of skepticism. All the witnesses were young boys and girls, and all this is just teenage hooliganism, as the locals thought.

There was only one person who believed the eyewitnesses and that was the local police chief Karl Sheridan, who knew the first eyewitness William Bartlett from a very young age. According to him, Bartlett is a very reliable witness, since he does not have the habit of lying, fantasizing, and even more so taking illegal substances. Sheridan also had great respect for Bartlet's talent for drawing.

Skeptics suggested that all four eyewitnesses could see some kind of sick animal, for example, a fox with a strongly swollen belly or even a baby elk. However, this did not fit in with Baxter's testimony that the creature was bipedal and moved in this way.

The mystery of the "Demon from Dover" still remains unanswered.
