American scientists from NASA have stated that gamma radiation is dangerous to life on Mars. The human body cannot withstand such an amount of radiation for a long time.
The main factor that affects life expectancy outside the Earth is cosmic gamma radiation, which is a stream of chaotically moving particles. The body will not be able to resist it, therefore the NASA program for the colonization of Mars is now in question.
Astronauts inside the International Space Station are not exposed to radiation because the observatory is carefully protected. The Earth also protects them from radiation. If astronauts move out of the safe sphere of influence of our planet, they will be exposed to dangerous radiation.
Only water can block gamma rays, but more than two cubic meters of liquid is needed to completely isolate the ISS, scientists say. It is not possible to send such an amount of water to NASA, so researchers are now seriously discussing the issue of colonization.
