Physical abnormalities in the human body have always attracted, and do attract the attention of people. But only now in the developed countries all the conditions have been created for their full life in society. And a hundred years ago, the maximum that such a person could count on was work in a circus. For example, people of small stature are usually called midgets. They have a special appearance and facial features that contrast quite strongly against the background of the average person, and probably sometimes cause the greatest misunderstanding on the part of individuals.
Conversely, everyone who is taller than two and a half meters is considered to be giants. However, there are not so many such people, unlike midgets or, in other words, dwarfs.
Where do the roots of both dwarfs and giants grow from?
There is a legend that before the appearance of the present man, only gnomes and giants lived on Earth. The legend about Atlantis also testifies in favor of the latter. As you know, the Atlanteans were tall and had phenomenal abilities. However, most likely there was some kind of cataclysm, and it was the human race that survived to this century?
I must say that the dwarfs living today are not a closed community, they live a full life and give birth to children who, among other things, have normal growth. Based on this, the question arises, are they the descendants of the very dwarves who lived before the arrival of the human race, or is this some kind of genetic abnormality?
Science nevertheless tends to the latter, although one should not deny the fact that there are many sources indicating their relationship to a particular species. Suffice it to recall that all European tales contain references to creatures of small stature, which aristocrats often kept as jesters. But this is at best, and often the Lilliputians in medieval Europe were considered marked by the devil and mocked them in every possible way.
Fairy gnomes are underground creatures who are very fond of gold, precious stones, and have a special gift for finding buried treasures. The gnomes had a lot of magical abilities, and they themselves were engaged in the extraction of precious metals and stones, but at the same time, no female gnomes are mentioned in any fairy tale. Of course, a collection of fairy tales cannot be considered official proof, but given that they were all created from folk legends, then perhaps there is some truth in this. Similarly, we can cite the example of fire-breathing dragons, about which there are legends in all cultures and it is not for nothing that there is a hypothesis about the last type of dinosaurs.
Unlike Lilliputians, giants are not so numerous (those who play on the basketball team can not be taken into account). Regarding the giants, there are also many folk legends, but there they, for the most part, appear as bloodthirsty goblins, trolls and other not very pleasant creatures that do not cause positive emotions. Today's giants are people who feel a lot of inconvenience, and if it is much easier for midgets to adapt to the environment, even if it does not correspond to their anthropological size, then tall people are forced to literally alter everything for themselves, and traveling in public transport turns into a real test for them.

In this case, doctors blame the pituitary gland for everything, since it is he who is responsible for the height of growth, and each time they try to find the reasons in previous generations, although there are facts when the parents of Lilliputians, or if one of the parents is Lilliputian, grew up a giant child. A regularity was also noticed that in most cases, gigantic growth is noted in men, in about 80% of cases, and giants can also be born from parents with normal height.
There is still a prejudice that gnomes and midgets are evil enough, at the same time giants are kind. This is a significant role of films and books, where people of small stature are especially often portrayed in a negative way. Suffice it to recall the famous work of Arthur Conan Doyle "The Sign of Four", where a representative of a dwarf tribe brought from the jungle killed by order of the owner, and could also enter buildings through very narrow openings.
Of course, the attributed malice is more of a fiction, although these people differ somewhat in their facial expressions and voice, but otherwise they are the same as everyone else. The kindness of the giants is primarily due to the fact that until 1917, in circuses in Russia, competitions were always held between wrestlers, whose height was rarely below 2.5 meters and the most striking example is probably Ivan Poddubny.
Still, the main reason that people grow up with non-standard sizes, according to doctors, is a violation of the DNA chain. As foreign experts say, a variety of circumstances can serve as the cause of DNA changes. It is impossible to predict what exactly will affect the health of future offspring, it may be a past illness of one of the parents, or emotional stress, but the consequences may come even after several generations. This situation is similar to how, when races are mixed, children with different skin colors are born through a generation, which is why scandals of quarrels between spouses often arise when the husband accuses his wife of treason.
It should be noted that for the first time Jonathan Swift introduced the audience to the giants and midgets in great detail in his fairy tale, but at the same time, his midgets differ from the giants exclusively in height, while the real ones still have external physical differences.
Of particular interest to geneticists are the primitive tribes of dwarfs, including cannibals, living on some islands of the Pacific Ocean. Now scientists are trying to find a connection between them and civilized midgets. The fact is not excluded that this is still the same race that existed before the arrival of man, but as a result of the cataclysms that occurred, some of its representatives found themselves in complete isolation, which ultimately led to a rollback in development.
The Bushmen tribes living in Africa can serve as a no less good example. Representatives of this tribe in adulthood have a height barely reaching one and a half meters, but at the same time they are quite friendly.
No matter how hard the supporters of everything occult try to ascribe to the giants and midgets the side of black power, while they do it pretty badly. The gnomes, possessing secret knowledge and witchcraft abilities, remain to exist only in fairy tales, or the movie "Twin Peaks". Specialists who have repeatedly studied this problem, including psychics, did not find anything supernatural in the representatives of this species. From time to time, when a high-profile crime is committed and a person of small stature is involved in it, popular rumor necessarily begins to add new details, including making the Lilliputians guilty, although there are practically no such in the criminal world.
Unfortunately, many people have been and still are of the opinion that a person with distinctive physical characteristics is inferior, and therefore does not deserve adequate treatment from others. Such intolerance has long become the norm for representatives of the titular race, and not only white, but also black, between representatives of different nationalities and in other cases, although in fact no one gave any reason, and even more so the right, including regarding physical data.
