The first wife of the Terrible was called Anastasia, she was a beautiful and stately girl, but the trouble is, she died under unexplained circumstances in 1560 and it was rumored that the tsar himself had a hand in this. The ghost of Anastasia often appears in Moscow cemeteries and frightens those who see him. It is interesting that Anastasia appears not only on the existing churchyards, but also where they were in her time.
Mary, that was the name of the second wife of the king, she was also a beauty, but she too suffered a sad fate, died and again for an unknown reason. Her ghost is noticed where the crime occurred, and this circumstance suggests that her death was not accidental at all.
The third wife, Martha, lived only a few weeks after the wedding with Ivan the Terrible, which was the reason for her death, history has not preserved information, but her ghost is usually seen on the sites of large fires and, possibly, her death is somehow connected with fire. Martha Sobakina is a harmless ghost, it does not frighten people, but rather warns by appearing in those places where a large fire breaks out soon.
The fourth wife of the Terrible named Vasilisa turned out to be a frivolous girl and fell in love with a young boy, and the tsar found lovers in the midst of joys. After that, the spouse and her lover were buried alive in a snake. The ghost of Vasilisa is seen with his hands tied and with a gag in his mouth. It is in this form that her soul walks along the night streets of the capital. Meeting her is considered a bad omen and does not bode well for the one who saw her.
