Is it realistic to go back in time and see historical events with your own eyes, or visit the future and see where progress will lead?
This question is asked by scientists, authors of science fiction literature, and simply dreamers who want to travel in time. But while some are considering the likelihood of such travels, others confidently declare that they have already left the present and found themselves in a different era.
The Moberly-Jourdain incident
The incident in 1901 with Anna Moberly and Eleanor Jourdain is also known as the Versailles Time Paradox. Two English teachers came to France on vacation and decided to take a walk after visiting the Palace of Versailles, but got lost. Trying to find their way, they wandered for a long time along unfamiliar paths and looked for a person from whom they could ask for directions. Finally, they met people, but they all looked strange and were dressed in old-fashioned clothes, reminiscent of the fashion of the 18th century. Assessing what was happening, the travelers came to the conclusion that they were mysteriously transported more than a hundred years into the past. On the steps of the castle, they even noticed a woman who looked like Marie Antoinette. Later, Eleanor and Anna described their adventure in detail and amazed contemporaries who were convincedthat two educated English women with impeccable reputations have no reason to lie about such a thing.
Report from the future
In 1932, journalist J. Bernard Hutton and photographer Joachim Brandt were tasked with traveling to a shipyard in Hamburg and reporting there. When they returned, they told the editor that they had witnessed a terrible incident - the bombing of the city. Correspondents saw military planes dropping bombs on the city and miraculously escaped. The photographer stated that he managed to take pictures, but after developing the film, it turned out that there was nothing on it. The editor decided that his colleagues had gone overboard with alcohol and made up a story. However, 11 years later, in 1943, Hamburg really became the target of such an air raid as part of Operation Gomorrah. Later a version appeared that the journalists were transported in time and saw in advance the events that were just about to happen.

Project "Montauk"
In the United States, an urban legend is spread, according to which a secret military-industrial complex existed in Montauk, where secret experiments were carried out to create psychological weapons. It is believed that the project also included studies of movements in the past and the future, during which it was possible to create a space-time passage. Was the US government secretly funding such developments? The authors of the Dark Files program are trying to figure out this issue. They are also testing the version that such experiments exist in our time. A documentary program about classified research and the mysteries of the Montauk Project will air on HISTORY on Mondays at 23:00, starting February 26.
The Time Traveler on the South Fork Bridge
Is there any evidence that time travel is possible? Most often, photographs are presented as evidence, which capture strange details that do not correspond to the era. A similar picture was taken in 1941 in Canada. It shows people attending the opening of the South Fork Bridge. The attention of researchers of the XXI century was attracted by one of the guests of the event, which was noticeably different from the rest. His clothes and sunglasses would be more suitable for a person from the 90s, and for the middle of the 20th century, his appearance seems very specific. In addition, the man is holding an object resembling a camera in his hands. The experts examined the photograph and concluded that it was not fake. Therefore, in our time, people can only guess who the mysterious young man with the photo was: a time traveler or just an eccentric who predicted the fashion of the future?
Guest from the future and a lie detector
Periodically "time travelers" make themselves known. Many people admitted that they had arrived from another century, and then talked about what life would be like, and even tried to predict the coming events. One of the more recent guests from the future is a man hiding his face and performing under the pseudonym Noah. To prove the truth of his words, he passed a lie detector test, which confirmed that Noah was not lying. The man announced that time travel would be possible by 2028. Also, humanity will be able to fly to Mars, look half its age, and treat many forms of cancer. However, even after such a forecast, skeptics remain adamant, because even a lie detector can be fooled.
