For a long time, researchers have been trying to solve the riddle of "living stones" - boulders that can move by themselves. Many versions have been put forward. And one of the last says that the Trovantes - this is the name they were given in Romania - are a silicon form of life. And also, perhaps, are reasonable …
Walk by themselves
The Lyons scholar Richard Demon claims that the Trovantes are able to … breathe! True, very slowly: one inhalation lasts from three days to two weeks. You can feel the pulse near the stones, however, this requires supersensitive equipment.
Together with the biologist Bertrand Escolier, the Demon conducted several hundred experiments. It turned out that stones can also move! True, in two weeks the "test" cobblestone moved only 2.5 millimeters.
This could explain the mystery of the famous "walking" stones in the California Valley of Death, which has been of interest to the entire scientific world for several years. But, alas, the scientific world reacted to the research of French colleagues with coolness - their version looked too implausible!

A whole "settlement" of Trovants was found in Romania. They have a round streamlined shape. Locals proliferate. First, a small outgrowth appears on the stone, which swells and falls off from the "mother" boulder. The new stone is completely independent and grows rapidly. Active growth begins after rain.
Annual rings visible on the split
At first, the researchers of the Trovantes assumed that they had some kind of special structure … But when several of them were sawed, it turned out that they were composed of cemented sand and mineral salts.
On the cut of boulders, scientists saw rings similar to those seen on cut trees. It turned out that, as in the case of trees, these rings indicate the age of the stone. This suggested that the Trovantes were an inorganic form of life!
Most of the trowans are found in the Romanian region of Valcea. Locals even make souvenirs from trowans that they sell to tourists. Or you can "plant" stones in the ground and wait for them to grow …
In 2006, in the Valcea area, in the sand quarries near Costesti, the Trovante Museum was opened. His collection contains the most curious examples of local origin. The largest of them reach ten meters in height. The open-air "exposition" covers an area of more than one hectare.
Andrew's miracle
"Living" stones are also found in Russia, in particular in the Kolpnyanskiy district of the Oryol region. Massive rounded boulders periodically show up from under the ground and begin to grow in the fields of the village of Andreevka. Interestingly, if the Romanians do not feel special reverence for their Trovants, then the inhabitants of Andreevka have a cult of reverence for unusual stones.
Their ancestors were convinced that they were saturated with the power of Mother Earth, and if you touch them, you can ask for strength and health … Similar beliefs operate in other regions of Russia where similar stones are found.
The boulders of the Oryol region, like the Romanian ones, consist of compressed sand. But at the same time they are unusually strong and difficult to break. As a rule, nobody touches them. Therefore, during the period of their "life", the Oryol trovants turn from very small pebbles into multi-ton megaliths.
Most likely, "living stones" are not only in California, Romania or the Oryol region. It's just that the inhabitants of these regions turned out to be more observant. And if the version that boulders are really able to breathe, grow, multiply and move without any external influences is confirmed, then we really should consider them as living beings.
Then it cannot be ruled out that Trovants also have consciousness, which means they can potentially be intelligent! Where did we get the idea that we are the only thinking civilization on the planet?
