Poltergeist sometimes attacks animals: he chased them in 28 cases (6 percent) out of 500. Animals react quite sharply to the effects of poltergeist forces.

Their reactions in general can be defined as orientational-defensive. Naturally, we are talking about dogs, cats, birds. If the outbreak develops in a village house, then we can talk about the reactions of cows, horses, pigs that the villagers keep.

The orientational defensive reactions of animals can be expressed in the form of various kinds of panic voice signals and forms of behavior. A dog or cat is alert, aiming its eyes and ears at something known only to them. Then, as if cautiously, they approach the place that disturbed them in order to sniff it. Then the dog may begin to whine, growl or even bark loudly, aiming at a certain point.

The cat, having reared its fur and aggressively bending its back, will freeze for a while in this threatening pose, no one knows who or what, then backs away in fright and turn into a panicky flight. A dog, too, can, unable to withstand a duel with an invisible enemy, shamefully retreat.

In such cases, both cats and dogs usually huddle up to a person, as if expecting protection and help from him. The man is perplexed: he does not understand their behavior! And only after a while begins to understand what's what.

Cows, horses in a poltergeist-ridden manor show obvious and incomprehensible anxiety. According to popular beliefs, the "brownie" nibbles cattle and birds, bites dogs, drives horses under a manger, braids their tails and manes.

Sometimes the tails of cows or horses are tied in knots. They find, for example, the tails of two horses tied to each other or the next morning they find the horses lathered up: they tremble in fright and refuse to move, or fly out of the stable like an arrow.

Such strange behavior of our smaller brothers causes understandable surprise of the owners: they had never noticed anything like this before! And only when after a while an outbreak of a poltergeist hits the house, the owners remember the strange behavior of their favorites, as if heralding subsequent misfortunes.

But even during an outbreak, animals can behave unusual. Sometimes they refuse to eat, quite often they listen to something, sniff.

Kittens are more sensitive to poltergeist effects than adult cats. It happens that a few days before the outbreak worsens, the kitten becomes lethargic, as if sick, he almost does not eat, stops licking himself, his intestines can be upset. Then, with the onset of an outbreak, everything gradually goes away.

Sometimes pets do not react in any way to the intrigues of evil spirits, which also surprises their owners.

At the same time, with poltergeist, physical damage to animals is extremely rare. More often, the phenomenon tries to scare them. For example, in the town of Berezovo, where in one of the apartments a poltergeist was "naughty" - he rearranged furniture to his liking, juggled with dishes that instantly broke into small pieces - neither the fish in the aquarium nor the canary in the cage were injured. They did not get a single fragment from the broken dishes and glass jars.

A few more cases

When a poltergeist walked in a neighboring village, the dog “couldn't find a place for itself. She was constantly rushing from corner to corner and whining."

But when she was brought to the room where the poltergeist was "naughty" at that particular time, she was completely calm - "went around all the rooms, sniffed everything and lay down at the feet of the hostess."

But in the poltergeist, which was in the town of Myshkovo, the domestic dog, on the contrary, became very irritable and all the time tried to run away from home. But when she was finally released, she did not want to return for a very long time, she also did not sit in her favorite place - under the window. When they let it into the house, the wool on it stood on end.

The search service dog Mukhtar reacted in the same way. She “calmly walked through the large room, but refused to enter the small one. She stopped only on the threshold, where, with her tail and ears between her legs, her back arched, she rushed abruptly into the bathroom and lay down on the floor there. At the same time, Mukhtar's face completely changed from fear, as if he saw a large tiger that was about to tear him apart.

However, after two police officers with difficulty dragged the dog out into the street, the expression of horror disappeared from its face. And an angry poltergeist threw a large refrigerator after them.

In the city of Nikitskoye, two cats and a puppy, while the poltergeist was walking, immediately left their kennel and hid in the house of their owners. Here, in the apartment, they jointly set up a warm, cozy refuge in the corner of the sofa. Neither small nor large household items reached this place when the poltergeist was naughty.

The neighbors' cat behaved similarly when a poltergeist appeared in their house. She rushed around the apartment, as if she was afraid of something. But during his pranks, when everything in the house was turned upside down, she was completely calm.

But in the city of Syktyvkar, a quiet and modest Siamese cat suddenly becomes unusually aggressive during the actions of the "noisy spirit". Also, one shepherd dog once could not withstand a strong stress during a poltergeist phenomenon and bit its owner.
