The earliest known case of fire poltergeists took place in 700 AD, when the home of an English missionary in Holland died in a fire as a result of spontaneous combustion.

Paranormal researchers have known for a long time that a poltergeist is capable of changing temperature - causing it to rise and fall inexplicably. Usually, the effects of lowering the temperature are relatively easily tolerated - in the form of cold spots or stains in the room.

Sometimes those present feel like a cold draft, which, passing by them, can, for example, swing the chandelier and even break the plafond. One of the rare manifestations is a decrease in room temperature by 5 degrees. Sometimes people just feel chills in a poltergeist apartment.

The effects of temperature rise are more varied and impressive. Of these, perhaps the most unusual is the sudden boiling of cold water in a vessel, for example, on a table. An object spontaneously thrown during a poltergeist, if it fell under your feet and you managed to pick it up right there, may turn out to be warm and even hot.

The latter is especially typical for stone-throwing cases. It is not known where the stones falling on the house or falling out in the rooms, if they are immediately taken in the hand, may turn out to be hot (the phenomenon of "hot stones"). But the most unpleasant are spontaneous combustion.

The range of their intensity is wide - from barely noticeable traces of heat exposure (separate burnt or charred places) and minor, but frequent spontaneous combustion in various places of the Premises and up to fires. Fire poltergeists usually make the life of the family beset by this misfortune absolutely unbearable.

In addition to the ignition of wet and non-combustible things, other equally strange effects were observed during fire attacks. For example, traces of fire are found inside a pillow or book. Or suddenly a dress lights up on a woman. Witnesses rush to her aid, trying to knock down the flames with their palms, and get severe burns, and not a single one on the woman's body! Or, very hot brown spots appear on the wallpaper.

Of the 500 poltergeist cases, 18 (4 percent) found objects moved or thrown hot to the touch. Cold draft and air movement were also noted in 18 cases. And spontaneous combustion and fires - in 53 (11 percent), that is, fire poltergeists are quite rare - on average, every tenth. Usually the matter is not brought to fire.

In 2012, a fire poltergeist set fire to things in one of the houses of a village near Bryansk. Fire in the house began immediately after the death of one of the family members - an 89-year-old grandmother

Here is a typical case of a fire flash. On the morning of August 25, 1959, it caught fire three times in one of the houses in Alabama, USA. Initially, the owners saw nothing unusual in this. In the house lived 32-year-old Calvin Tak, his wife and six children, aged from six months to nine years.

The next day, the strange flames continued. The owners, realizing that they were not able to keep track of the numerous fires themselves, in complete despair called the fire brigade. Soon journalists joined the firefighters.

Over the course of several days, the host's room flashed twenty-two times. On August 28 alone, it burned seventeen times! The ignitions seemed to start from the ceiling. Even non-combustible objects were exterminated in tongues of flame, which flared up approximately every fifteen minutes.

At first, the owner sinned on faulty electrical wiring, but everything turned out to be normal. Finally I realized that something unnatural was happening. Being somewhat superstitious, the owner came to the conclusion that something was "done" with his house. And the firefighters have failed completely in trying to explain or stop the strange fires.

The family decided to leave the house. But before that, the owner, paying tribute to superstitions, piled clothes, mattresses and other property in a large pile in front of the house and burned everything with his own hand. Just in case…

But there was no rest in the new place either. On the first day, there were five fires. The second day did not bring relief either. I had to invite firefighters again. The police arrived, as well as one of the researchers. The picture that opened up to their eyes resembled a landscape after a tornado: things, clothes, furniture and so on were scattered in the house and around the yard.

Suddenly, one of the trees caught fire. We sawed off a branch and tried to set it on fire with a match. The branch was charred, but did not catch fire. Then a loaf of bread caught fire.

On September 1, I had to move again. This time the father of the head of this unfortunate family offered shelter. And the owner began to look for "craftsmen" - in the hope that they will stop this horror. After the help of a local medicine man, everything was quiet for several days until it broke out again in seven places.

Firefighters and police by that time were already looking for the cause of spontaneous combustion. The police were leaning towards the version of arson with self-igniting chemicals and tried to find the arsonist. And unexplained fires followed one after another. The suspect, the owner, went on the run, but the police and firefighters found him and subjected him to preventive detention. Soon they were released: the fires continued as before.

The police took on the owner's nine-year-old son, forcing him to make a false confession that the fires were his work. But the judge dismissed the "confession" on the grounds that it did not explain the strange nature of the fire. Painfully unusual matches must have a confessed person in order to set fire to wet or non-combustible objects!

In addition, the flames sometimes came from the ceiling or walls, to which the boy could not physically have access. And the color of the flame was unusual. I had to give up this seductive version. And the true culprit - the poltergeist - managed to escape responsibility.

A fire poltergeist in an Irkutsk apartment in November 2006. For several days, the top covers of all the sockets and switches in the house burned out, in front of the eyes of the residents a powerful flame flashed here and there several times a day: things were burning in the hallway, a children's jacket on an armchair, clothes in a wardrobe, blankets and much more.

An impressive outbreak of fire poltergeist, complicated by other types of manifestations, broke out in 1920 in India, at the home of local judge A. Pillau in the city of Nidamangalam. It began on March 3 and lasted two weeks. At first, the clothes hung up for airing ignited.

The fire was extinguished with water by folding wet, half-burnt clothes in a chair. Half an hour later, the still wet clothes caught fire again, this time with the chair. The judge, deciding that this was the fault of his daughter, who lit the fireplace, spanked her properly.

In the following days, other events took place: images of Catholic saints were thrown from the walls, glass dishes were smashed to smithereens, the walls were smeared with manure. Everything connected with religious rites was especially bad: images of saints were thrown from their places and defiled; the crosses painted on the walls of the house were covered with manure; crosses and crucifixes suddenly disappeared, then they were found, for example, on the roof.

On the walls of the locked rooms, there were crosses painted with cow dung. It became impossible to live like this any longer. The judge moved the family to another house.

Soon after the move, it caught fire in two rooms. Medallions with images of saints continued to disappear or found themselves in another place. Various objects were thrown at people with force. Things that were already on fire were rushed around the house, creating additional fires.

A threatening inscription appeared on the wall, addressed to the judge: he was recommended to abandon the Christian faith and re-convert to Hinduism. Finally, an exorcist was brought in. After several sessions of casting out demons, everything stopped.

In Moscow, one of the strongest fire poltergeists raged in September 1994 in a house on Studencheskaya Street. Flames, sometimes strangely blue in color, flashed right in front of the firemen. There were notes, a swinging chandelier. Once it caught fire under the feet of the chief of the fire brigade who was drawing up the protocol.

Spontaneous combustion stopped after Father Herman from the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh at the River Station worked with the family.

One of the latest cases of fire poltergeist was recorded in the Republic of Belarus in April 2015 in the village of Polesye, Svetlogorsk region. Then, for inexplicable reasons, wooden buildings were burned down one after another. First, the dacha burned to the ground, a few days later - two sheds, the fire on the roof of another was put out.

Some villagers blamed the children in the neighborhood. But on the pre-holiday Saturday, April 11, fire damaged their home as well.

During the investigation of the causes of the fires, a curious detail emerged. Several years ago, the owners of the house complained about unexplained phenomena that took place in their home.

Either the telephone rang spontaneously, playing "Moscow Nights" instead of the tuned standard melody, then jars of jam flew out of the closet, the bedside table in the corridor was overturned. Even the arrival of the priest, who sanctified the unclean place and advised to pray, did not help. Even invited ufologists investigated the pranks of the Polissya bastard. The option of a childish prank was also considered then.
