On the evening of August 20, 2019, Karen Butterfield Varney of Augusta, Georgia, was able to photograph an extremely rare atmospheric phenomenon - the appearance of the so-called "positive streamer" during lightning:
In fact, all this, of course, is nothing more than a theory and no one knows how lightning works. However, it is generally known that, in the case of lightning, streamers go from top to bottom, that is, from the sky and lightning do not fly out of the ground. However, a citizen named Karen witnessed this amazing phenomenon.
All this could be attributed to an incident and passed the event, but it so happened that a day earlier, 49-year-old South Carolina native Romulus McNeill decided not to wait for the thunderstorm to end and, taking an umbrella, went from the school where he works to his car. Here's what came of it:

Thus, the streamer again grew directly out of the earth and the uncle was incredibly lucky that he was not atomized into atoms.
It would be wrong to say that there are no such streamers, since a positive streamer is a phenomenon recorded from time to time, although extremely rare. But, as you can see, the phenomenon has somehow radically increased.
We do not know what caused it, since the very nature of atmospheric electricity is not clear. However, even within the framework of existing theories, it can be assumed that:
a) the ionic composition of the atmosphere has changed;
b) the electric charge of the lithosphere has changed.
With what this may be connected, we also do not know, but we can assume that the reason there is the same as that of changes in the planetary magnetic field. That is, the pole shift is approaching - it's not just that thunderstorms have appeared beyond the Arctic Circle.
How quickly the shift will approach is unknown to us. It is possible that the leap will take place right tomorrow, it is possible that the process will drag on for years and decades. But what we now know for sure is that it has become very unsafe to walk during a thunderstorm.
