Heiko Ulbricht from Saxony, who took the photo in Germany, suggested that forest fires, which are now raging in Siberia and in parts of Alaska, were the cause of this phenomenon. He suggests that smoke and ash rose high into the atmosphere, dispersing over the Northern Hemisphere and now giving such optical effects.
In an attempt to explain the phenomenon, the Space weather forecast showed the images to collaborating atmospheric optics experts who reported the following.
Veteran Observer Don Davis from California: “These images reminded me of the volcanic sunsets I saw in 1991 after the Mount Pinatubo eruption. There were also purple hues and strange striped structures."

Atmospheric optics expert Le Cawley: “These luminous and cloudy structures definitely look stratospheric, but I am not aware of any evidence that the smoke from wildfires can reach this height. Something is happening there. Aerosols from arctic wildfires are of course the prime suspect, but we cannot rule out a couple of active volcanoes."
In general, all the famous invited experts are at a loss and are ready to offer the most insane theories for explanation, ranging from the eruption of invisible volcanoes to the rise of smoke from fires for 50 kilometers.
