The Eastern Bay is a densely populated and fast-growing area, which seemed to have been explored for a long time and all its mysteries have been solved. However, one secret has haunted scientists and various researchers for many years.
These are several long rows of very ancient-looking stone walls, laid along the mountain hills. The origin of these walls goes back many centuries and is lost in the mists of time.
These walls are most often referred to as the Berkley Mystery Wall, and in science they are known as the East Bay Walls. These walls stretch for 50 miles and vary in height from 80 to 100 cm, and they are just under a meter wide.
The walls are made of stones, which are stacked one on top of the other without the use of mortar. Some areas appear to be completely destroyed, while others appear to be relatively intact. In some places the stones are unworked and of different sizes, and in some places they are carefully hewn and attached one to one.

The exact age of the walls is unknown even to scientists, it is only assumed that they are very ancient, since they partially went deep into the ground and were overgrown with grass. Walls do not look like barriers, as they are not continuous and they are not high enough to prevent people from moving. Therefore, the main scientific version calls these walls Indian fences for cattle.
True, this version does not fit the fact that Indians engaged in cattle breeding have never lived in these places. Local Indians-Ochlons could build structures of stone, but they got food by hunting and gathering.
According to other researchers, stone walls are similar to those found in Maine, Massachusetts and Vermont, but there is no evidence that Indians from those places came to the California mountains.

There is also a version that these walls are not at all ancient, but were built a maximum of 150 years ago by local white herders. As evidence, they usually cite the fact that the lichen on the stones has grown quite sparsely. At the same time, both Chinese and Indian workers could be used in the construction, there were many of them in the Wild West at that time.
However, this version is easy to destroy, since the accounts of early Spanish travelers were found in which they described these walls. That is, when the first Europeans just came to these places, these walls already existed and even then none of the local Indians knew where they came from and who built them.
It is curious that the walls are laid in a very strange way. Some of them are laid out in a straight line for a great length. Part is made in the form of short segments, and part is generally winding and very uneven. There are even sections in the form of a spiral or a snake. And on this basis, they are much more reminiscent of religious buildings than cattle pens.
There are sections of walls that are laid in very hard-to-reach places. No one would have driven cattle there. And some parts of the wall are so short and small that they don't even fit a small paddock for a horse. The incomprehensible purpose of these stone structures is the biggest mystery of the Berkeley walls.
There is a completely exotic version that the walls are cult structures of the inhabitants of ancient Lemuria or the continent of Mu who survived the flood. The problem is that the very existence of these civilizations is from the category of myths.
