It can be easily found in Mexico - in the Mojave Desert. Every local resident knows about him and takes him to him without any problems, but he will only refuse to go further, since this useless tunnel approximately two kilometers long (a tunnel to nowhere) conceals a lot of mysterious and inexplicable things.
It is enough to start at least with the background of its creation. Digging it (or rather, hammering in the rock) became a certain William Henry Schmidt, who later received the nickname Donkey from local residents. For many years, a man went here every morning and dug this unnecessary underground passage. Donkey himself explained his work constantly with one phrase - this is the shortest path. Here is just the shortest way to where?..
Until now, no one knows this, especially since William Henry Schmidt died long ago, taking his secret with him to the grave. And this secret lies not only in the strange phrase of this fanatical man, but also in many other things. For example, the builders note that the Donkey either had professional skills in the construction of such tunnels, or someone was helping him invisible, since no one ever noticed the helpers next to this person in his strange business.
Schmidt himself was not only strange, but also a very reserved person, he practically did not communicate with anyone, dressed and put on his shoes always as necessary (at the level of a ragamuffin), that's just where he got his strength (and got the necessary tools) to create the tunnel, punching it in solid rock, is still not clear to anyone.
Some people still consider the Donkey to be an abnormal, mentally ill person, others even suggest that Schmidt was looking for gold or some other valuable ore. However, doctors deny that this person is abnormal, and there is no mention of schizophrenia or other illness associated with a mental disorder in his medical record. Geologists, in turn, argue that there is no gold or any valuable minerals in the area.
And yet, William Henry Schmidt accurately imagined the goal to which he was going, but, apparently, he never got to it. Although who knows, because people disappear here … Many researchers carefully studied this strange tunnel in the desire to find a secret that only Donkey knew about. But … to no avail. Therefore, there are no people willing to continue this underground path to nowhere. Or maybe through him it was possible to go into a parallel world, which was shown to the Donkey, and so beautiful that he completely abandoned the joys of our world.
