In Portugal, while fighting forest fires, they managed to film a rare natural phenomenon known as the "devil's fire" (fire tornado). It occurs when burning dust is lifted up by the wind.

About 1.3 thousand fire service employees in Portugal are busy extinguishing six hotbeds of forest fires in the central and northern parts of the country, according to the Nacion edition, citing the Civil Defense Service.

The largest outbreak is reported to be in the area of the village of Pampillosa da Serra in the central part of the country. About 57 firefighters, 170 units of ground equipment and three aircraft were sent there.

Another major fire occurred near Mortagua in Coimbra County. Here, about 300 firemen are involved in the elimination of the fire. Alvayazeri employs 285 people. Three more outbreaks were recorded in the north of the country in the cities of Bragança and Ribeira di Pena, as well as in the settlement of Vila Nova di Paiva.

In August, fires in Portugal affected 55 people. In the overwhelming majority of cases - we are talking about 90% of fires - the fires were provoked by "human activities", informed the Civil Defense.
