According to the authors of the work, human consciousness is able to work for several minutes after the death of the brain.
Scientists from Britain have analyzed the data of two thousand patients from fifteen hospitals in the United States, Great Britain and Austria for four years, and all these patients have been diagnosed with cardiac arrest. About forty percent of those who were able to survive said that they felt "mindfulness" of some kind after the cardiac arrest and before it was restarted.
As an example, scientists cite a case described by a fifty-seven-year-old social worker. He says that at the time of clinical death he was out of the body, and, as it were, watched what the doctors were doing. According to experts, the details of his story speak of what actually happened in the room then.
Dr. Sam Parnia reports: “We know that the brain cannot work after the heart stops, but in this variant, the consciousness was likely to continue to work for at least three minutes, although usually the brain shuts down after thirty seconds, as the heart muscle stops.
The patient told absolutely everything that happened in the room, as well as what the doctors did, down to the smallest detail. The scientists are now planning to continue their research.
