In 1985, 19-year-old Laurie went to work as a systems analyst at the United States Naval Agency in Oregon. In addition to working in a new place, employees were provided with leisure activities. Colleagues signed Laurie for rafting. The girl was afraid of water, because she did not swim well, but her friends persuaded to join.
Laurie swam down the river in an inflatable kayak. She successfully passed the thresholds of II and III difficulty. The most dangerous part of the path was called the "Rogue". The section of the IV degree of difficulty contained many boulders and water eddies.
To avoid the kayak hitting the rocks, the girl had to make a sharp turn. Due to the low speed, the kayak capsized and Laurie fell into the icy water.
“I was in a life jacket, but the water was dragging me into the bubbling hole of the vortex stream. The shock of the icy water made him inhale and swallow the water. I lost my spatial orientation. She saw the sky from above, but could not get to the surface. The lungs burned and panic began.
I suddenly thought that I was going to die. The last thing I remember was saying: "God, help me."
Without oxygen, I began to weaken and eventually stopped fighting. I cooled down in the cold darkness of the water and suddenly stopped feeling terror and pain in my lungs. The darkness around me turned completely white, and I realized that I was rushing at the speed of light through the tunnel.

When the pain left me, it became warm. Unconditional pure love radiated around and in me. Love covered me like a warm blanket.
When I left the tunnel, I felt my hands, but I couldn't find my legs below. I saw a silver luminescent cord that ran from my body. I looked around and saw a room that seemed to be formed from clear clouds and not solid.
There were three creatures of shimmering crystals in the room. The light passed through them like a glass prism and formed a rainbow. One creature was larger than the others, they all spoke to me. I got scared and they seemed to understand it. Instantly, the creatures turned into what I can call angels …
When they spoke, the messages were sent telepathically. The angels read my mind … There was so much love in their gaze, as if I were the most precious creation that God has ever created. I felt that they knew me intimately …
The big angel said: “You have arrived too early, the time has not yet come. You must go back and finish your work on Earth. But since you're here, we'll show you something."
The main angel held a large book, but instead of words, there were images on its pages. I saw scenes of my life from my birthday until the moment I fell off the kayak. The pages turned quickly, and it felt like watching a movie.
The angels recalled everything that I did for others, or could not do for someone. They showed a person whose face I could not clearly see, and children who were not yet there.
One of the little angels said: “I am Yahsail. I have been with you since the beginning, and I will be with you forever. You must return, you must be there for them."
Instantly, Yahsail and I teleported to the center of a vast golden field. There I heard the most beautiful music and felt how it passes through me. The wind blew through the tall golden stalks of wheat. I felt the spirit of all things living around: animals, plants, elements and was as if one with them.
When I looked up, I saw a huge ball of light. He surrounded me with the purest warm light, and I felt how God touches my skin. He knew and loved me no matter how imperfect I was in earthly life.
I was perfect, whole, and did not feel pain.
The angel lifted me higher. I felt that I was soaring and saw a huge waterfall without beginning or end. Love and peace reigned here. I felt the presence of loved ones, but did not see them.
We moved further along the golden field, at the end of which there was a fence, and behind it was a huge tree with a canopy of golden leaves. When the breeze touched the leaves, they flew off the branches in the form of colorful birds of all kinds.
The lake next to the tree washed both borders. The lake water glittered like liquid mercury. And when I looked into it, I saw people living on earth.
Yakhsail said again: “I was with you with the coming of the time, and I will be with you forever. You cannot cross the barrier. It's time to return to life on Earth. You have a task to complete."
Words could not express the sorrow I felt. I cried and begged to leave me. He said: “When the time comes, I will come for you. But now…"
All the water that I inhaled poured out of my lungs. I gasped and shuddered at the air. Immediately I felt pain in my chest, and the hand of the rescuer grabbed my vest. I almost knocked him out of the kayak, and then someone else lifted me into a big boat and brought me back to reality.
It took me a long time to figure out why this happened. I still wonder why I am?
When I studied the Rogue River, I learned that after me 21 people drowned in the "Rogue". They died and I survived.
After the near-death experience, I became closer to God. Now I understand that life is not a series of accidents, but a consequence of choices and analogies. My choice directly affects others, and we are all interconnected.
It took me years to understand my purpose. I decided that I must heal others.
My sensitivity became stronger and I began to anticipate events. I hear the voices of those who are behind the veil, but still have not learned to clearly see the spirits with human eyes.
This incident was the most profound experience in my life. I cried as I wrote my story, because the words pale in comparison to everything I saw, felt and heard during my journey to the heavenly realm.
I'm not religious, but after what happened, I became closer to the spiritual than ever. I know that apart from our world there are other dimensions, and I am here for a reason. I have a goal, and until I fulfill it, I will be here."
Leading US researcher on NDEs Dr. Jeffrey Long published Laurie's story on nderf.org. The scientist asked the woman to describe the attitude towards the experience of death, after which 30 years have passed.
“I remember him better than any event in my life. The memory of him never disappeared, and over time it became even clearer. I remember everything in great detail. These memories often bring me to tears. I want to come back.
During the experiment I saw much more clearly than before, the colors were much brighter. The white light was the clearest I had ever seen and did not make me want to close my eyes from the bright light.

The images of the man and children that the angels showed me turned out to be the faces of the future husband and our two children.
From experience I realized that I am worthy of love and I need to love myself in order to love others. After the incident, I became more confident and strong, I focused on improving my self-esteem.
Life after death definitely exists. I believe I died and went to heaven.
During the incident, I felt the most perfect level of love that can be imagined, it was intense and was given without conditions and expectations. I felt one with the world.
I have shared this experience with other people. They were stunned. Some people thought that Heaven and God did not exist, but when they heard my story, they changed their minds."
