In a sensational interview with his longtime atheist friend Eugenio Scalfari, Pope Francis argues that Hell does not exist and that condemned souls simply "disappear." Thus, Pope Francis denies the 2000-year-old teaching of the Catholic Church about the reality of Hell and the eternal existence of the soul!

Scalfari and the Pope's scandalous interview was published on March 28, 2018 by La Repubblica. A similar article was published in the more conservative and respectable magazine Rorate Caeli, which specializes in the Vatican and the Catholic Church.

The interview is titled: Il Papa: "È un onore essere chiamato rivoluzionario", that is: "Pope: I am honored to be a revolutionary." Here is the relevant quote:

Scalfari: “Your Holiness, in our previous meeting, you told me that humans as a species will disappear at some point and that God will create new species instead. You have explained to me many times about good souls who will live forever, but you never told me about souls who died in sin and will go to Hell to suffer there for eternity. So what about bad souls? Where will they be punished?"

Pope Francis: “Those souls who repent are not punished. They receive the forgiveness of God and enter the rank of souls who will live forever. But those who do not repent - they cannot be forgiven, they disappear. Hell does not exist, there is the disappearance of sinful souls."

The current Pope Francis is quite famous for his rather original views and statements, however, it seems that this was the first time this was announced in the Vatican.

The King James Bible, published in 1611 and considered classical in Europe (it consists of 27 books of the New Testament and 39 books of the Old Testament), directly uses the word HELL (that is, Hell) as many as 23 times, translating the words hades from the New Testament Greek, tartaros and g enna.

Here's what linguists say about the words hades, tartaros and g enna:

The Greek word HADES has a lot of translation and the exact meaning of the word depends on the context. In the Greek version of the New Testament it is used 11 times, and in the Synodal Bible it is transliterated as Hell (Mat. 11:23; 16:18; Luke 10:15; 16:23; Acts 2: 27,31; 1 Cor. 15:55; Rev. 1:18; 6: 8; 20: 13-14).

The Greek word TARTAROS, meaning "deep abyss" among the Greeks and "the place of the gloomy abode of the wicked dead" among the Romans, occurs once in the Greek text of the New Testament (2 Pet. 2: 4). Tartarus has no Hebrew analogue, therefore, most often translations into one or another language use the same word.

The Greek word G ENNA appears to be the Aramaic ge hinnom, “the valley of Hinnom” (Neh. 11:30; cf. Joshua 15: 8), a place for sacrificing children to the pagan god Moloch (2 Chron. 28: 3; 33: 6), and for this reason it is usually transliterated as Gehenna. In the Greek New Testament, g enna is used 12 times. Nine of them (Mat. 5: 29-30; 10:28; 23: 15.33; Mark 9: 43,45; Luke 12: 5; James 3: 6) are translated as "Gehenna", three times the translation sounds like "Gehenna of Fire" (Mat. 5:22; 18: 9; Mark 9:47 - Sat).

In addition to ancient texts in a not very clear edition and mysterious origin, Hell is described in some detail and even painted by many mystics, that is, people have seen it.

Some even saw in Hell at least one of the Roman pontiffs:

Thus, Hell is a very real place that actually exists. And there are quite a lot of Hells in the Universe, judging by what the mystics say. However, in this context, only one is meant - the one that the Roman Catholic Church has been repeating about, having done so since at least 1611. And the current head of this church suddenly denies all the previous teaching of his pastors. This suggests that the Vatican will soon be phased out as a project, clearing the way for a new religion, so the current Pope is already actively working in this direction.
