For proof of its real existence, a prize of $ 1,000,000 is promised

This summer, wilderness travelers have a chance to combine business with pleasure. In the sense of not only relaxing, but also earning a million greenbacks. You just need to get somewhere the indisputable facts of the existence of the well-known "Bigfoot".

Such a competition was established by the American company for the production of optical devices (binoculars, etc.) Bushnell, together with the magazine for hunters and fishermen Field and Stream. The jackpot will be won by the one who presents to the high jury "raw photographic or video materials, fragments of bones or teeth, the examination of which could be carried out by reputable scientists."

Of course, a promotion is very similar to an advertising one - to draw attention to their products. And there is little chance that someone will still be able to find this mythical creature.

“Why, actually, not? - the organizers of the project argue. - These unusual creatures are mentioned in the Bible, they exist in the folklore of many nations. Evidence, albeit not very convincing, about the sightings of the Yeti comes from different parts of the planet and now. In general, he who seeks will always find. Dare, lovers of the unknown."

One has already been found. In Bhutan

The promotion began in June and will run until December 15th. Anyone can take part.

The first contender for the award, by the way, is already known. It was 63-year-old British animal artist Polaina Pickering. Last week, she opened her next exhibition, Land of the Thunder Dragon, in London, featuring artwork from her latest expedition to the highland Kingdom of Bhutan. And on one of the drawings just … "Bigfoot" is captured.

According to the artist, in Bhutan, she learned about the scalp of the Yeti, or "blink," as the aborigines call this creature, kept in one of the local Buddhist monasteries.

Promotional video:

Pickering with guides got there. But - bad luck: the scalp, a sacred relic of the monks, is kept in the part of the monastery closed to visitors. However, Pickering managed to get there due to his origins. The young monk caretaker turned out to be a football fan who adores British star David Beckham. Therefore, I decided to help his compatriot and led the woman through the back door.

Pickering says she saw a scalp with a part of the cranium. He was covered with brown hair, similar to a human, but about one and a half times larger. The monk forbade photographing. But he did not mind that the artist made a drawing.

Later, returning to London, Pickering portrayed the yeti in its entirety, observing all the proportions inherent in the human body. And now she claims to have created the first real composite of the "Bigfoot".

Monks have fun

Pickering now says she would like to organize a scientific expedition to the monastery, the location of which she has not prudently disclosed. Monks will never voluntarily part with their relic, and it will not be possible to take the artifact out of Bhutan for research. But the artist expects to bring scientists to the monastery and try to persuade the monks to conduct analyzes directly within the walls of this holy place.

However, many zoologists are skeptical about Polaina Pickering's story. Similar "scalps" in the Himalayas have already been found more than once. But they all turned out to be handicrafts that local monks make for their ceremonies from the heads of mountain goats. But Pickering has a quite logical answer for skeptics: “Since monks make such masks, it means that they once saw such a creature -“blink”. And why not assume that a fragment of the body of a real being is actually kept in one of the monasteries.

By the way, there are still biologists who claim that the yeti is not a legend, but an extremely rare species of ape. True, there is no real evidence of this.

TOPIC QUOTES

Isaiah

(13: 19-22):

“And Babylon, the beauty of the kingdom, the pride of the Chaldeans, will be overthrown by God, like Sodom and Gomorrah. It will never settle, and there will be no inhabitants of the birth. An Arab will not pitch his tent, and the shepherds will not rest there in flocks. But the beasts of the desert will dwell in it, and the houses will be filled with owls; and the ostriches will settle and COSMATS will gallop there …"

Ibid (34: 13-14):

“And her palaces will be overgrown with thorny plants, nettles and thistles - her stronghold; and it will be a dwelling place for jackals, a haven for ostriches. And the beasts of the desert will meet with wild cats, and LESHIES will echo one with the other …"

QUESTION - RIB

So where is he hiding?

Andrey PEREPELITSYN, cryptozoologist, head of the interregional group for the study of the secrets and mysteries of the Earth "Labyrinth":

- "Why can't you catch him in any way?" - everyone asks me this question, barely learning about my studies in cryptozoology. Sometimes they formulate stronger: they say, swindlers, charlatans … Obviously, skeptics believe that the cryptozoology enthusiasts themselves have invented their wards: either for self-promotion purposes, or for life to be boring … I'll try to debunk a few myths.

1. "Bigfoot" - the name is incorrect

The term arose from a misunderstanding: if the members of the Himalayan mountaineering expeditions, who were the first in our time to see strange footprints in the snow, had bothered to immediately talk to the local residents, they would have told them that hair-covered (covered with hair. - Ed.) in mountain forests, and if they come out in the snow, then occasionally. In general, legends about our hairy “partners” leading nocturnal life are widespread, primarily in forest (taiga) zones of almost the entire planet, and local residents call them differently. In central Russia, for example, there are "swamp devils", "wood goblins", "shaggy". Accordingly, they were found in windbreak, impassable, swampy forests. It's simple - their ancestors to these unattractive places in the not so distant past were ousted by ours:a direct consequence of Darwin's theory of natural selection.

2. Official science does not deny them. But he tries not to speak out on this topic.

There is no official position of the Academy of Sciences regarding the reality of these creatures, there is the opinion of its individual representatives. But no one is going to look for "snowmen". So, in the USSR, only one, alas, unsuccessful expedition was financed from the state budget - in 1958. It was generously funded - someone "at the top" became interested in the "topic" and decided, as was customary in those years, to clarify the issue with one blow. The quality of the organization and searches is evidenced by the fact that the entire preparation for the event took less than a year (despite the fact that the topic was completely new), and there were … already five zoologists on the expedition: a specialist in seals, insects, bats and two ornithologists … Moreover, the head of the expedition, botanist Konstantin Stanyukovich himself later admitted that they worked in places in the Pamirs, where the aborigines had never heard of the "snow people".

3. Yeti lovers will not find

In the Soviet years, several amateur expeditions were sent to different regions of the country almost every year! I dare to say: it would be truly anomalous if at least one of them caught (photographed) the "Bigfoot"! A public expedition is a crowd of vacationers who are eager to have fun, chat with interesting people, and at the same time take a picture of the "snowman" if he somehow comes out to their noisy crowd.

Recently, I was in the Far East, just at that time local zoologists were observing the life of a family of leopards: they were looking for a den for several months, then the photographer sat in a tree for two weeks, eating dry rations. So this is a leopard, and the "relict hominoid" is undoubtedly much more cunning, and even with a genetically fixed fear of its more intelligent fellow. And abroad the situation is the same …

Tracking down the smartest, and even, apparently, not suitable for permanent dwellings animal is not a task for the townspeople. This should be done by a team of experienced hunters who know the relevant region, moreover purposefully, and not casually, and for a couple of years.
