This story happened to me in 1997, when I was 19 years old. Once, late in the evening, I accompanied my girlfriend Katya home. A stranger came up to us and asked me for a cigarette. I replied that I do not smoke. Then he asked me for money for cigarettes, and said that if I did not give him money, then I would have to pay with my girlfriend. Word for word, and the situation escalated to the limit. Fortunately, I always carried a hunting knife with me. Already in the morning I was sent to a pre-trial detention center. I do not know why, but I was issued in solitary confinement. It happened on the fifth night of my stay behind bars. I woke up around four in the morning. I felt that I was not able to move and raise my voice, although I wanted to scream. There was a terrible hum in my head and a feeling of approaching death.
