The first mention of the castle of Amboise dates back to 504. It is one of the most ancient monuments of French history.
Initially, this castle was a fort built near the waters of the Loire River. The fortress was rebuilt more than once. From an ordinary bastion, it turned into a masterpiece of architectural art, and was used as the residence of monarchs.
In fact, all the owners of the castle brought something new to it. These reconstructions resulted in a very unusual modern appearance.

The ghost of Leonardo da Vinci and others
