Dr. Erlendur Haraldsson, Professor of Psychology at the University of Iceland, studies paranormal research. He studied the life history of the Icelandic medium and reincarnation.

Haraldson discovered a ghost

He conducted research and collected data for the book Indridi Indridason: An Icelandic Medium, which was published in October 2015. After examining the public archives, he found a real person who matched the description of a ghost that appeared during Indridason's sessions.

According to testimonies, during one of Indridason's sessions, a human figure appeared in the column of light. The man called himself the manufacturer Jenson. He spoke Danish and talked about a factory fire in Copenhagen, Denmark. A few days later, Jenson reappeared before Indridason. This time he said that he had six brothers and sisters, he is not the Icelandic medium Indridi Indridason (1883-1912). married and has no children.

During this era, news from Denmark was rarely delivered by ships. There was no other connection with Iceland. The seance took place on November 24, 1905. The next ship arrived shortly before Christmas, and with it news from Copenhagen.

The ship brought newspapers, which spoke of a factory fire that occurred on November 24 on the day of the session.

Nobody tried to verify the existence of the manufacturer Jenson before Haraldsson. He examined the archives in Copenhagen and found a man who exactly matched the description. This man lived on the ground floor under a factory that burned down. He died in 1898, seven years before the fire.

“Indridason was studied by very competent scientists, so there is a lot of material on him,” says Haraldson.

For example, the doctor Gudmundur Hanneson, who later became a professor at the University of Iceland, brought Indridason to his house, forced him to take off his clothes and gave his own. He forbade Indridason's assistants to come with him. But the paranormal still happened.

Indridason reportedly levitated during the sessions. In different corners of the room, the voices of dead people were heard and other paranormal events took place.

Verified memories of past lives

In Sri Lanka, Haraldson collaborated with Dr. Ian Stevenson, who interviewed children who remembered their past lives. Haraldson and Stevenson investigated these cases. They tried to find people who fit the descriptions of children's past life memories.

For example, a girl who was born in Elpitia in southwestern Sri Lanka began talking about her past life at the age of two in the city of Akuressa, 96 km from her hometown.

She said that her last name was Nanayakkara. She drowned after falling off a narrow bridge while returning home. She was pregnant, her husband jumped into the river in an attempt to save her, but to no avail. She shared various details that enabled Haraldson and his colleagues to verify the case.

They went to Akuressa and found evidence that there was a woman named Nanayakkara, and her life and death corresponded to the girl's story. Haraldson checked the forensic records and spoke with friends and family of the deceased woman. She was indeed pregnant at the time of her death.

Haraldsson also studied incarnations in Lebanon. In Lebanon and Sri Lanka, they believe in reincarnation, so parents do not treat their children's past life memories as fiction.

Children usually talk about past lives at 2-3 years old. Dr. Jim Tucker of the University of Virginia has done similar research in American children. The results were similar.

It seems that rebirth usually takes place within the same country. “Children talk about life in their country in recent times - about 2-4 years before their birth. I don't remember a single time when children talked about life in a distant country or ancient times,”says Haraldson.

"Nobody said that in a past life he was Cleopatra or some famous person … They remember the life of ordinary people."
