What is EMF?

According to the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, EMFs are "invisible areas of energy, often referred to as radiation, that are associated with the use of electrical energy."

If you are a woman, your risk of developing breast cancer is higher if you regularly wear your cell phone in a bra. Generally, the most common site for breast cancer is in the upper outer quadrant. When cancer is in the upper inner quadrant, it is more likely to be due to radiation from your phone (if you are wearing it in a bra).

Ways to reduce exposure to EPM

Here are some tips to help you reduce your exposure to EMF:

Connect your desktop computer to the Internet via a wired connection and put your desktop in airplane mode. You should also avoid wireless keyboards, trackballs, mice, game consoles, printers, and home phones. Choose the wired version.
If you need to use Wi-Fi, turn it off when not in use, especially at night when you are sleeping. Ideally, it's best to make your home wired to turn off Wi-Fi once and for all. If you have a laptop without Ethernet ports, purchase a USB adapter that will allow you to connect to the Internet without a wireless connection.
Turn off the electricity in the bedroom at night. Typically, this will help reduce electrical fields from wires in the wall if there is no adjacent room next to your bedroom. In this case, you will need to use the fixture to determine if you also need to turn off the power in the adjacent room.
