News headlines vied with each other to assure us that the world is on the brink of World War III. In fact, hardly anyone will dare to take a step of mutual destruction. However, just in case, we found several places on the world map where you can easily survive the nuclear apocalypse.
Fiji
Fiji, a tiny island paradise in the South Pacific Ocean, is geographically located as far away from possible sources of conflict. The government traditionally does not interfere in foreign policy - and why should they.
Switzerland
The Swiss have never fought any wars since 1815. Even the world powers will not be able to capture Switzerland: absolutely all mountain passes are seriously fortified and constantly guarded. Bombardment, even nuclear bombardment, will not be able to resolve matters either - there are more than enough reliable (and comfortable) bunkers in Switzerland.

Slovenia
The Slovenian government has moved the country towards full energy self-sufficiency with a long-range scope. In the event of an international conflict, Slovenia will not depend on anyone, which means that it will not and, in principle, will not be interested in participating. Most likely, a global war will bypass Slovenia, which makes the country a wonderful, calm haven.
Ireland
Evergreen Ireland has held military neutrality since the 1930s. Most likely, this country will prefer to stay on the sidelines in the event of the next global conflict.
Austria
4th place out of 163 countries in the Global Peace Index. Austria clearly does not intend to repeat the mistakes of World War II.
Portugal
The publication Politico ranks Portugal in 3rd place in the Global Peace Index - in the article the editor calls the country an "Oasis of stability". The far-right populism that has recently taken over Europe due to the influx of migrants from the East has bypassed Portugal and there are no signs that the Portuguese will take part in any military conflict.
New Zealand
More than half of all electricity New Zealand gets from hydropower plants. The land of the islands is fertile: even cut off from the rest of the world, this country will remain a safe place.
Iceland
Iceland is recognized as the most peaceful country in the world: on the Global Peace Index, it received first place. In addition, Iceland is geographically far from the powers that will be involved in an international conflict.
