There are unusual trees that were described in detail by eyewitnesses decades ago, but today no one could find them. One of these trees is the so-called "Luminous Tree", which was written about in the English magazine "The Theosophist" in 1885.
The note claimed that the tree grew in a gorge near the hot springs near the city of Tuscarora in Nevada, USA. The mysterious tree looked like a barberry, but at night it emitted a shining light from each of its branches and leaves. It shone so brightly that it illuminated the entire area around it:
“We are talking about a short tree, which is slightly more than a man's height, and its trunk is three men's wrists wide. It has countless branches and twigs and is somewhat reminiscent of a barberry bush. Its leaves in certain seasons of the year glow so strongly that this light can be seen on a dark night at a distance of more than one and a half kilometers. And in the immediate vicinity, it emits enough light to allow a person to read the fine print in a book.
Its foliage is extremely lush and the leaves are reminiscent of California laurel in size, shape and color. Its light feature seems to be of a parasitic nature and consists of an incomprehensible sticky substance that can be collected from a leaf, rubbed in the hand and the hand will also glow, while on a leaf devoid of this substance, the glow completely disappears.
One can only guess what that sticky substance was. Was it some kind of symbiotic relationship between the bioluminescent organism and the tree? It is difficult to say now, because these days it is unknown about such trees.
Another strange tree was reported in the New South Wales Australian newspaper Singleton Argus. On January 20, 1943, there was an article in the newspaper about a tree that made musical sounds.
The tree was reported to grow in Nubia (Egypt) on the banks of the Nile River, off the west coast of Africa. This tree made a beautiful sound, like playing a flute or pipe, when the wind blew. The locals treated this tree with superstitious horror.
Further in the article it was reported that perhaps insects were to blame for the musicality of the tree, having made many long moves in the tree trunk. However, if they were wood-eating insects of this species, there would be other trees like this, but they were never reported later.

Another very interesting tree was reported in the Australian press in the 1890s. An ominous tree or an evil tree or a "sleeping" tree has been reported. It was about one particular tree, which grew somewhere to a height of 24 meters and belongs to the species of acacia.
This tree was remarkable in that it could wiggle leaves and branches. There is also an American note about this tree, the cutting of which was brought to the United States and there a new similar tree began to grow from it. Here is what the Petersburg Times reported:
“One of the very curious plants was brought from Australia and went to Virginia, where many people could see it. When the sun goes down, its leaves and twigs are tightly and neatly folded into small "coils", similar to pig tails. If you touch its leaves with your fingers, then the leaves begin to rustle and move restlessly for a minute or more in a state of slight excitement.
If this strange plant is transplanted from one pot to another, it seems to get angry and the leaves begin to stick out sharply in all directions, like porcupine quills, and the whole tree turns into a sharp ball. At the same time, the tree is also irritated, a pungent and sickening smell emanates from it. It fills the air and only after an hour or so does the leaves take their natural shape."
What was this strange tree? Was it real? We will probably never know this again.
Another unique tree was reported on March 30, 1901 in The Muswellbrook Chronicle. There was a report about the dreaded "Snake Tree" from Mexico. The mysterious tree was allegedly about 6 meters high and they even wanted to plant a large area in the park with it. But suddenly it turned out that this is a predator tree. With its thin branches, it grabbed any animal passing by and sucked blood out of it:
“It has a thick, gnarled trunk and a large number of slippery, snake-like branches, completely devoid of foliage, which constantly wriggle, stretching in all directions. This tree actually lives off the blood of birds and small animals, it captures and feeds on any living thing that can pass within the reach of its tenacious limbs.
Each of these limbs is completely covered with small suckers resembling those of an octopus, and whenever a medium-sized bird or animal comes into contact with such a branch, it is immediately surrounded by hundreds of such small but powerful tentacles, and they hold it tightly. until the blood is sucked out."
Another frightening tree allegedly grew in the wastelands of Arizona in the 19th century. In the records of 1894, there was a speech about a certain tree, which was covered with many needles.
When these needles were at rest, they exuded a delicate and pleasant smell, but if someone approached the tree, then the tree began to throw these sharp needles at a person or an animal and the smell immediately became either rancid or similar to the stink of a rotten meat.
Some reports even suggested that the tree gave off a frightening hiss during this aggressive attack. One story about this tree came from Colonel Bryce Dion:
“There are more strange things in Arizona than any other part of this wide land, and I know the strangest tree in all of Arizona, which has a character worse than the blonde prima donna from a comedy opera. Some people call it the porcupine tree, others the stink tree. I call it the tree of sacred terror. But no matter what you call it, it is a very strange product of nature."
Many similar stories can still be found in old newspaper publications and magazine notes, but today nothing is known about these trees and this is a real mystery. What did these people actually see? Are these trees extinct these days and so we don't know about them? Or maybe they existed in another reality? We can only guess.
