Almasty, chuchuna, kaptar, mirigdy, sasquach, bigfoot, yeti - all these are the names of the same creature among different peoples of the world. Recently, reports of meetings with them began to come again from various parts of the world

We talk with Igor Burtsev, director of the International Center for Hominology, about why it has not yet been possible to catch Bigfoot (scientifically - a relict hominoid), who he is and what abilities he possesses.

The TOPIC of Bigfoot, as a rule, is perceived with a touch of irony. People reason like this: if he exists, why hasn't he been caught yet?

- Tell me, is it easy to find an animal of a rare, endangered species in nature? No, it's not easy. And if it also leads a nocturnal or twilight lifestyle? Add the fact that Bigfoot, for some reason, dislikes Homo sapiens, avoids meeting him in every possible way. And some abilities help him in this, which you and I do not possess. For example, eyewitnesses say that when you try to shoot a hominoid on a photo or video camera, it instantly disappears. It happens that the hominoid escapes, and there is more incredible evidence when it disappears in the literal sense, as if dissolving in the air. This is how the hypothesis arose that Bigfoot possesses volitional control, is able to inspire the observer or hunter that he is invisible. This property of the psyche, perhaps, was once inherent in homo sapiens, but then he lost it. But he acquired the ability to speak.

Why does Bigfoot dislike Homo sapiens?

- There is a version that the relict hominoid is a descendant of the Neanderthals. As you know, they were exterminated by the Cro-Magnons, the ancestors of modern man. So, the Neanderthals did not die out, some individuals survived. In his works, our famous researcher Boris Porshnev substantiated the idea that Neanderthals did not follow the path of social development, but adapted to life in natural conditions.

Frozen corpse at the fair

BUT IF you can't catch Bigfoot, what evidence is there?

- Many traces of a material nature were recorded. They need to be explained somehow. For over a month I lived with the Carter family - farmers from Tennessee (USA). Their family is from the 40s of the XX century. maintains contact with Bigfoot - hairy two-legged creatures that live in the forest near the farm. Farmers feed them, give them all nicknames, k there you can already write a whole book about the history of the snowmen clan. But these creatures are extremely cautious - I never managed to meet them: it takes a long time for them to get used to a stranger.

Bigfoots looked at the farm in my absence: I found huge footprints on the ground-floor, made a cast. They found "toys" of hominoid cubs - clay balls from which strands of hair stick out. Searching for big feet in the woods also gave something. I found a semblance of a den - huts made of branches, rammed rookeries under them. In addition, in the forest there were such "marks" - at a rather high height, more than two meters, someone broke and twisted tree branches. Similar traces (huts and "marks") are found in our Kirov region, where, according to hominologists, snow people also live.

And what are these "marks" for?

- There are two explanations. First, it can be "beacons" for better orientation in the forest. But another version is preferable - in this way the relic hominoid marks the territory and demonstrates its superiority to other inhabitants of the forest. These branches are rather thick; even Nikolai Valuev would not have been able to twist them. And Bigfoot makes it easy.

Well, okay, you can't catch him alive. But the corpse can be found. They are not immortal

- There were such finds. In 1968, two cryptozoologists - Sanderson and Evelmans - examined the frozen corpse of a hairy humanoid creature. And later they published their report in the scientific press. Evelmans established that this is a modern Neanderthal, and thereby confirmed the correctness of BF Porshnev. In 1974, a voluminous book "Neanderthal man is still alive" was published.

A couple of years ago, at a provincial fair in France, a supposedly man-made exhibit depicting a 263 cm tall Bigfoot was exhibited. After our investigation, carried out jointly with the French, it turned out that this is a real frozen corpse of a hominoid!

How many of these creatures in the world do you think?

- I think several thousand. You see, there are no searches for hominoids right now. Obtaining new data depends on financial resources, because the search for hominoids is a costly undertaking. We hope that there will be people who, out of love for science, will help in organizing new expeditions.
